i hope this doesn't piss you off to much, but it's war Toteone, in this NES only of course ;) i understand why, but sitll you attacked me killed the people i paided for, essentially killed my property, and took my land and tried to destroy my capital, what i did was pales in comparison
but let us not argue over who is right and who is wrong

From Caribbean Empire
To New Illinios
we cannot accept your deal for it would be an insult to the Caribbean people, we are sorry but war is now, and forever shall be between the Caribbean and New Illinios people until the New Illini, pay back all that econ points plus 2, we tried to remain peaceful, we gave so much but it seems war lords as yourself do not understand peace

ooc please PLEASE don't get mad at me but i have to be realistic to, just don't go swearing any oathes against me!
*hides*!

Dude I wasn't/aren't angry :-), - here's another smiley to prove it ^_^

but I am willing to pay your 6 economy points so we can avoid a war of attrition. I need to focus back home, maybe we could even continue trade (it would help me to pay back the wartime concession). :( it's a lot of money though, think I could pay it back in installments of 1 per round?
And I'll withdraw my High Saints.
------

How and if there should be made a change?

Well personally I favored the original rules, making your military recruitment dependant on population size, ca. 0.5 percent of population per economic point spent on infantry/soldiers. That way a nation with a million citizens would get 5-10,000 infantry per economic spending point and a nation with one hundred thousand infantry would get 500-1,000, with the exception being the UU.

That's the earliest form of military I remember in this game and it worked the best imho because the size, age, government form, atrocities and success all factored into the population. These days any impudent runner-up can just buy 350 infantry like the old boys empires. I think the most populous areas of the world should be mighty and strong like in OTL, but the old rules were really an important part of what set this NES apart from other NES'es that focused solely on economy = military.
And the big nations would also have to worry about not going to war all that much in order to remain strong, I remember fighting the Iroqs to the east and the Sioux to the west... it really cost me a lot of population which was one of the reasons I left for the southeastern coasts.

Kamilian please place my nation under temp NPC, I will be back in a few weeks when I can say if my time will improve or not, to reclaim it.

Thanking you in advance for your patience

Sheep.

Okay...

We know that neither side of this conflict wants to see more bloodshed. Here are our terms:
-Western Papua will remain an independent nation.
-Borders will stay as they are.
-No reparations are to be paid.

alex994- There have already been referendums in many areas of the world. Also, as for why you should pay for control of the areas, Mesepotamia insists that losing the areas would be such a devistating effect taht it should get some payment. I simply chose the smallest amount and easiest method of pay for you. Be reasonable here, wouldn't it be better for you to spread east and possibly north to control trade routes than to spread west and run into many large and poserful nation?

@Israelite, there may have been in other parts of the world, but not to the knowledge of the Persian Shahahsah thus to be in character that's noted. Also, according to past updates Pashtunia and the surrounding areas was inhabited by the Afridi Elite? with Persian Administrators and etc. The territory should then be rightfully Persian as the smarter Afridis have thrown their lot with the Persian Empire. I will not be "reasonable", but will be and do what should be done by the opinion of my character. Anyways, there isn't many large and powerful nation towards my west except you ;) so you can't say that you're acting solely on altruism. (coupled with the fact that the moderator is quite biased towards you)

lurker's comment: ... Typo of the day.

King Hazzarraj VII laid a kiss on Askep, the beautiful daughter of the Siamese royals. Askep, now Queen of Malaysia, was tall with smooth tanned skin and strait black hair flowing down her back. With their marriage, Siam and Malaysia were formally joined. The old ruling family still held their symbolic religious positions, but their authoritative power was now gone.

This is a Golden Age for Malaysia. The war with Nihon had ended in a victory. A representative government had been set up, and occupied Nihonese were allowed to return to their home islands if they wished, though many of them chose to remain in prosperous Malaysia rather than go to Nihon, which was virtually bankrupt.

Explorers were expanding the known world constantly, and Balism was spreading almost as fast.

"Yes," thought Hazzarraj, "Good times."

Here's the map of the Malaysia's known world:

From Saxony
To Eire:
Hmm. Why would NAP with your allies be necessary? Because we want to know that we won't find ourselves at war with one of your allies who didn't sign the NAP, because then they'd activate your Dutante Alliance and we'd be at war with you again, thus having given up Berlin for only one turn's worth of peace.

From Mesopotamia
To Persia:
We thought you, fellow Zoroastrians, would have sympathy towards our position. It's disappointing when the country we have looked up to is indeed a back-stabber.

OOC: Lord_Iggy, I will answer for GDC tomorrow, that way if Sheep manages to get online again today still, he can decide. If he doesn't, then I will post the NPC reply tomorrow ;)

Thanks for the heads-up Sheep. We'll be waiting for you.

Toteone, the one problem I had with that military growth system was that it took a lot of calculating and by the time I got to NPCs I got complacent and just increased-economied many of them just to avoid military calculating. I'll consider it, though, since I liked that method better, too.

alex and israelite, as an OOC note, Pashtunia and its nearby area is not full of Iraqis and Babylonians - they are a very small minority of the workers and slaves that were/are there. Mesopotamia is just exaggerating their number to try and gain leverage for gaining possession.
Eastern Mesopotamia indeed wants to be with Persia.
Southern Mesopotamia does not - Persian administrators that were overthrown during the Pashtun Empire's collapse just managed to seize power again because the locals were more intent on celebrating than ensuring that power is permanently theirs.

First off, I saw that.
Secondly, that's low.
You've been having a free ride the past 5-6 turns. You're the last person to be complaining of me having bias toward your enemy nation. I told you the balance of power would swing again eventually. It has now. Deal with it. And I don't want to hear another mention of bias out of you until this whole post-barbaric crisis is resolved.

Mr Mod sir :salute: how come New Illinios got so many ships, they only had 10 of each when i had over 100 and i had always increased triremese without fail, what happened?

OOC: It was meant to be seen :p I would have added a mischief smilie, but that would have given away the white text. ;) Yes, I was the Pashtuns. I felt like being an evil genocidal person like sheep and silver for once. The experience wasn't as good as i thought though... :mischief:

To Mesopotamia
From Persia

In light of more recent information, we are willing to renegotiate. Pashtunia and it's nearby areas as well as Eastern Mesopotamia will be officialy ceded to Persia while Southern Mesopotamia will be officially recognized by the Persian Empire as part of the Mesoptamian Nation and Persia will pay 2 eco points to Mesopotamia.

EDIT: and I do apologize for killing half of Israel's population Israelite, but I hope you'll feel better I did the same to all the countries that didn't surrender fast enough. It's nothing personal

alex994- Since you are not Pashtun any more, i will ignore it, althoug I would like to point out that I was the only PC... Oh well, i might be getting some more land out of this anyway. Since I am a nice person who doesn't hold grudges, I will let it go.

To Mesepotamia
From Israel
The King and Knesset highly suggest that you accept the Persian offer. If you refuse, that will be just plain stupid. As such, if you refuse, we will be forced to take back our support for your government. If you do accept, then Israel will most likely send troops to help in bringing the south under Mesepotamian control. L'Chaim!

OOC: wait... how were you the only NPC? NPCs are non-playable characters right?

From Mesopotamia
To Persia:
Fine. Agreed.

OOC:
Kentharu, they increased a lot the past 3 or so turns, using the spending points you gifted them.
Yeah, your case is a prime example of how bad this new military-increase system is. I will return to the old way.

meanwhile...

WHITE SOX WON! WHITE SOX WON! WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

To Malaysia
From the GDC

This is an internal matter for the Greater Democratic Commonwealth and if you press futher in interference on this matter we will consider it an act of war from Malaysia upon the Greater Democratic Commonwealth, do you wish for resumed warfare?

Wow, kewl you are returning to the old way?

Yeeeeessshhhhhh!!!! Too bad it came to late for my 10 economic points but at least my 9 economic points will buy me three times as much as my enemy who refuses to make peace!
bwahahahahahhahaah!
I LOVE BEING THE GOOD GUY!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

All we request is that the rights of the people of Irian Jaya (Western Papua) have their wishes respected. We repeat our offer that an election that is fair should be held. Though your trust with us wears thin, we can swear by the Balance that we will hold a fair vote to decide whether Irian Jaya wish to be independent or join the GDC. As an incentive for you, we will return the two disputed islands south of Papua to you whatever the results of the vote are, if you accept the other terms.

@Totoene- didn't read your post before so yes if you are willing to pay the 6 econ points then ok, of course i won't ask for it all at once (though i still shoudl go to war with you, since this is the best time) but you swayed me, 3 econs points this turn though (or next update which ever is right) after 3 econ points 1 point per turn and trade will be ok though if you slaughter the rebels in your country like last time then i wil step in, step in meaning ask you kindly to stop, and NOT attack :)
@Kamilian can you increase your army or navy with more than 1 econ point this time? is that what happened cause if that was the case then i would have had max navy by now!
