STONE AGE
version 2.90

This is the lastest version of the Stone Age Mod. It's compatible with BTS 3.19.

Please, download Stone Age Mod 2.90 version.

TO UPGRADE ... just Delete the old Stone Age Mod folder. By default, it should have this route: "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\" (it may change if you installed Civ4-BTS it in a different location). After that, follow the Installation Instructions because everything is similar. :mischief:

INTRODUCTION

Let’s see, this is the first version of Stone Age Mod for Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword 3.19. I really hope you will enjoy it :).

Let me tell you the idea. It’s 50 000 BC. You start as a small tribe. Everything is new for you and your people. You must learn the secrets of nature and lead your tribe through a dangerous way of life. Wild animals are almost everywhere. It’s about you to take advantage of it. In your way you may find other tribes who are developing as well as you. Year will go by and you will have to fight to get a space on Earth. You must be careful with nomad tribes. They could be kind with you, but once you turn them your back, you might regret it if you are not prepared.

Years still come and go. Only strong enough tribes will prevail. Nomadic lifestyle will stay in the past. New challenges approach your empire. Will you be proficient enough to lead your empire through the test of time? This is the real challenge! This is YOUR CHALLENGE :trouble:.

Stone Age Mod, as it’s name describes, divides the early game in 3 old eras:

  • Epipaleolithic
  • Mesolithic
  • Neolithic

You can continue your normal gameplay after reaching the Neolithic era. Some few changes to original game, but they are to keep its balance. I'll soon post the Stone Age documentation file to have the detailed features of this mod.

This Mod has been specially designed for long games at Marathon or Historic Speed. It also playable with Epic game speed and the other ones.

Here is the list with the current Stone Age mod features (UPDATED):

Installation Steps

  1. Download the file StoneAge2.90.rar and save it into your Hard Disk
  2. Don't forget to delete any Stone Age folder in your Civ4-BTS MODs route (if you already have one) before continuing with the next step.
  3. Once downloaded, move it into your Civ4-BTS MODs Folder. Usually this is the link: C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods
  4. Now, right click on the file and select EXTRACT HERE (from any extractor). Let the file extract the Mod.
  5. Now, everything is ready!! You must start the game and load the Stone Age Mod from it.
  6. Have fun =)

XXL World 1.5b (optional installation)
  • Download the file XXL_World_v1_5b patch.rar and save it into your Hard Disk
  • I assume you have already installed the lastest Stone Age version.
  • Once downloaded, move it into your Civ4-BTS MODs Folder. Usually this is the link: C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods
  • Now, right click on the file and select EXTRACT HERE (from any extractor). Let the file extract the Mod.
  • You MUST get a request to replace some file. Let everything be overwriten (YES TO ALL). If you don't get a Replace warning, something might be wrong.
  • You can now choose the new map sizes in the Custom Game screen =D

PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION: Please, read the game HINTS to learn some tips ;)

You will find a File with the Documentation in the RAR. You will need WinRAR to extract the Mod.

It looks cool.

Any plans on adding in DCM features (all bombardments including archer bombardments, attack support [from RevDCM, not stack attack], and opportunity fire)?

It looks cool.

Any plans on adding in DCM features (all bombardments including archer bombardments, attack support [from RevDCM, not stack attack], and opportunity fire)?

I first wanted to include RevDCM 2.0 but it seemed to have many bugs, specially with events. I'm just waiting for a stable RevDCM to include it with this Mod. I think they have already got it :D.

Wait so you can only play as Peru? Are you planning to add more civilizations?

Well ... You can also choose any Civilization/Leader from the BTS game. I've just added Peru to the list of Civilizations :). The same for the other stuff. Nothing from the original BTS game has been removed. Maybe polished, but not removed :D.

I think I will add some kind of "Update" for the ones who want more Civs/Leaders. I will add it just like an "optional update" so not everybody will overload the game with it if they don't really want it :).

Can you include the XXL World mod (by Nevermind) into your mod or vice versa? Using this mod with that one would be great.

Well I just want to say it is neat what you have done in general. And you are doing this for free. It is just though to me reading description it does not make logical sense. The resources and cities did not exist till way later. If this is meant to be fantasy that is good then. If meant to be a real history this is absurd. Farming and permanent cities did not come around till after 10,000 BC for sure.

If you are going to make it more of fantasy stone age then I think you should really increase the fantasy side of the mod. Just my opinion. I would like to know what the intent is really with this more fantasy or history.

It's definitely a fantasy. No homo sapien sapien existed till about 300,000 years ago. We are very young species on this earth.

Yeah ... I'll better adjust the calendar. I'm also planning to find a way to have a nomad style. I think that must be the next step :).

About the Peruvian people, I just added it for fun, or maybe because I'm peruvian . However, I will always be grateful to your comments and suggestions. :D

What does that MOD add to the game? Only a bigger map size??? Where can I find it? If you can just assist me with that information :D.

BTW, this Mod includes 2 biggers maps :).

Archaeological thought now suggest that permanent settlements predate farming which predates most domestication. <humour on> Dogs domesticated humans earlier and cats waited until the humans could provide them with a nice warm shelter :) <humour off>

Dear God, no - absolutely no dinosaurs anywhere near this mod!! I'm not too bothered about the start date, because Civ dates to RL advances are notoriously screwy. 1 million BC is just an amusing date to start at :)

Here is what we are doing for nomadic.

Anyway if not real I would think of Caveman the movie with Ringo Starr.

I think you have already said you disagreed with some features of this Mod. I would really appreciate your silence if you don't have anything productive to say. You could also use some of your funny time to continue developing that camp. That would be more useful for all of us. Much more for you.

You are misunderstanding me. I would like to see your mod if it is fantasy to add more animals that is all. If it is not fantasy I am sorry. It just did not know if I was understanding the intent of the mod. I was not trying to make a joke.

So if serious you are right I better stay out of this thread because I do not understand.
