Stop Closing the 3.13 thread. It's obvious we all want to discuss this subject

I have no idea why the moderators are taking it upon themselves to shut down the one thread that everyone is interested in and is posting in. It seems like a really petty aciton trying to change the subject of what we all want to talk about.

The last post to "close" the thread said that that the thread was sending a message to Firaxis about how much we care about the patch. Well then why close it? If moderators are tired of reading what their members want to talk about then maybe it's time to re-think the idea of what it means to be working for a community site!

Moderator Action: If you have no idea, perhaps you should ask the moderators instead of opening a thread about it. As it is, consider yourself warned for PDMA.

Thread closing in 3....2....1....

Venger
P.S. Though I do think that somewhere there should be an open patch thread... even if it's in an OT section...

What you mean we all want to whine about the lack of a patch? Most people are fine with 3.02 + Solver's Patch for now, only the minority of "squeeky wheels" want to post pathetic whines in the anticipated patch threads... The rest of us are busy playing the game or... you know, living life and such.

The mods were obviously concerned that the thread was hurting the feelings of Firaxis employees, resulting in the negative consequences of (1) less unofficial help from them in the future; and (2) bad feelings might lower the quality of forthcoming patches by demotivating the employees.

Well this is the place of support after all...

Are you serious? 3.02 was a failure. My game was working fine until I download that patch. When I download 3.02 my animation got messed up, my wonder movies got messed up, my game started crashing, afterworld and age of ice wont run......

Moderator Action: If they were discussions of features/fixes of the 3.13 patch, they'd have not been closed. However, the threads that have been closed so far have been closed because they turned into posters just flailing away at each other for their positions on whether Firaxis has screwed up or not. This thread so far doesn't lead me to think that it'll be any different, but I'll leave it open for now. If it goes the way of the other two, it'll get closed like the other two.

That was 3.03, not 3.02. I think the only customers who can justifiably complain are those who bought the downloadable BtS and were forced to update to 3.03 and get stuck there for weeks. They really should have released a 3.04 immediately to get those folks out of the rut. I'm fine with whatever Firaxis needs to do with 3.13 though. Just look how complicated the game is now... I'm not surprised it's taking a while to get the patch right.

Purchased BtS via Steam, I have started 5 games and cannot finish one due to crashing. Unless someone can tell me how to get Steam to give me v3.02 instead of automatically installing v3.03 I'm stuck waiting for v3.13.

I envy those who don't have repeated, chronic crashing of their game... alas I am not one of them. But I especially like it when they rub salt in the wound by saying that the game isn't broken and Solver's patch solves everything.

Which subject do people want to discuss? What the patch contains or when will it be released? I doubt that discussing the release date will have any tangible effect on the release date, so in that sense all the discussion does is raise the emotional temperature.

Edit: I'm running patch 3.02, didn't download 3.03 and haven't encountered major problems with the basic game mechanics.

You're an optimistic person to leave this open, IglooDude. ;)

Moderator Action: I've been called worse.

Anyway, anyone wanting to talk about actual bits of the 3.13 patch, there's a thread specifically for that now. If you want to discuss recent events... please consider your words carefully.

Knowing the risk of my account being deleted here, I have to say this to the forum and not a moderator...

Can this even be called a forum, when there are soo many taboos. All we can post here are bug reports, support-related posts and the ingame topics... I almost feel like its a job I'm not getting paid to do. On top of all this fuss about the patch I even decided to stop modding civ4, because by the time all bugs are gone or "acceptable", then its time for civ5.

But the main concern for me is this forum... we cant discuss anything without the threads being closed - its kinda silly.

And yes, I know the rules... but I just feel like yelling FREEEEEEEDOM and then fade into the oblivion...:hide: :xmassign:

lol you think this board is bad? Tbh it hardly seems moderated to me!

Try some UK online computer forums, Nazi heavens those places.
