Whats the best way to stop the tech tree
to keep the game in an era (e.g. medieval era).

i know there are some mods for it on steam,
but i dont really use steam. And have not seen any
of them in the download section on this site.

should i try one of the tech tree editors or something ?

Why don't you want to use the Steam Workshop? Anyway, I think that someone would be able to post the .civ5mod files for these mods from the Workshop. Change the extensions to .zip, extract to your MODS folder, and enjoy.

well i dont use steam , and brought my copy of civ in a store. but yea if someone would like to post those mods (with the creators permission , that would be great) save me trying to do it myself.

Civ5 for PC, even if you buy it in a store, needs Steam to work. If your copy works without it then either it's the Mac version, or the copy is pirated.

no its not pirated, i own a boxed copy, i just use a crack , i know steam is not drm.
but i dont see the point in download a piece of software i
wont use , just to play a game i own.

The point of the software is so that you can download mods yourself - and not expect other people to do work for you (uploading mods to somewhere other than Steam)

If you don't want to use Steam, fine, but with that decision comes the inability to download mods.

No he plays offline. I do too, sometimes.

Offline mode still requires Steam to run. But of course it's true that you can't download mods in it.

Here use this mod. You can edit it if you wish to disable any era you wish.

If you want to disable a tech add this code to the XML.

Spoiler :
Code:
                <Update>
			<Set Disable="1"/>
			<Where Type="TECH_EDUCATION"/>
		</Update>

In this case, I really did not need the education tech for my mod, when my game ends at the beginning of the Renaissance Era. Really the proper way to do it, is to completely eliminate the eras, techs, units, everything from the techtree, that your not going to use or need. Then simply go from your end era, straight into future tech. An example would be what Ed Beach did with his 'Into the Renaissance' scenario.

Sometimes I play offline, so I don't get messages from other players every ten seconds. :lol: I hate to be playing and have to think about what to say to someone else. Especially, if I just want to play and relax.

Steam has to be set in offline mode. Then you don't need steam to play. What I hate is if my ISP provider shuts off the internet for repairs or some issue, and I can't play because steam is online. Sorry for 2x post. Oops!

And a unit? how does I disable units? I want to disable Caravan because they cause game crash.

this MOD might what you're looking for, made by a friend. Unfortunately he didn't update it to BNW. but it works fine on GnK.
