Strange ai city placement bug

Hello, I'm currently playing on Huge Earth map with 14 other ai opponents who are behaving rather oddly. The don't settle in close proxemity of their other cities, instead they (seemingly randomly) put their cities super far apart (to illustrate, Mongolia have their capitol in east Asia region and their next city is in the middle of Europe) This condition basically applies to every ai Civ, so the continent looks like a jumbled mess of random city-state like expansions. It is super annoying to play against as there is no unified enemy to compete against.

I'm playing on chieftan difficulty (new player to Civ5) so that might be the reason why the ai is behaving so strangely but it seems more like a bug to me.

Got any pictures? I play on huge maps and haven't seen this before. Does it happen on every map type or just Earth? What mods are you using?

It's not a bug, Mongolia is just sending a message to the world that they are at their door and are ready to overtake the world again at anytime :crazyeye::crazyeye:

At least they aren't making scam deals with other AIs to steal their cities.

Hello everyone, thank you for your comments. :)

I am not sure if it happens on other maps than Earth, it might be a strange quirk with my game specifically. I'm using CBP v. 94 if I understand it correctly, nothing else (just the stuff that came with the installer). Also got a screen of the map if it helps.

After a bit of research, I found out that there were some other people with the same issue (https://www.reddit.com/r/civvoxpopuli/comments/hg2iy4/ai_settler_weird_behavior/) but it wasn't really resolved, so I dunno.

Wow, this sure is weird and should not be happening. I don't know why, but the Vox Populi versioning does not seem to be working. The correct version number (e.g. 8-16) is included in the autoinstaller filename though. The latest beta can be downloaded here:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/new-beta-version-august-16th-8-16.661882/

It should be stable, but I've heard some people had experienced a bug with low religious pressure.

If you are on an older version, I suggest updating to the newest one from the linked thread (or wait a day or 2, it seems a newer version is on the way). Mind you, these updates are usually not savegame compatible (= you will have to start a new game after you update).
