I haven't seen this problem anywhere else on the board...
After updating to patch 1.52, CIV4 fails to load, citing insufficent video memory. (My video card is technically below spec, but runs the game just fine pre-patch.) Following the advice of others on the board, I set Memsaver = 0 in the .ini file, and that initially seemed to fix the problem.
This is where it gets weird....I can start a new game w/patch 1.52, or open up a pre-patch save game, and eveything's fine. But when I try to open a save game that I've played for any length of time unde 1.52, I get the "low video memory" error again....and the bloody Memsaver has turned itself back on!
Does anyone know why the .ini file keeps resetting, and how to stop it?
Alternately, is there a way to permanently cripple Memsaver, as in taking the relevant files out of the program? I liked the gameplay improvements in 1.52, but my memory didn't need to be fixed.
Thanks!
