So, as a preface to this monumental instance of overthinking, I want to warn you that as a CivFanatic, it is my job to overanalyze every detail and ask mountains of questions. And that is exactly what you will find below.
From both playing the game and watching the cutscenes on YouTube, I noticed something with the leaders, or at least, one of them. Gorgo seems to have nail polish.
As anachronistic of a design detail that may be, there was something else I noticed too that adds some confusion to this.
Despite Gorgo having this now, I checked back to the pre-release promotional images (the ones they used on the first look video thumbnails) and it's missing.
Not just missing entirely, but judging by the odd, out of place color of her fingernails, it almost looks like it was hastily edited out, for an unknown reason.
I've come to a hypothesis though: it was already intended for Gorgo to have nail polish (most likely as a cheeky "why not" design choice from the art team), but when making the pre-release renders they chose to edit it out, for some reason. Perhaps to avoid backlash? I can't imagine anyone caring that much about the nail polish of a video game character... and yes, I see the irony in that statement.
After realizing that with Gorgo, I looked to other leaders. And while I'm uncertain what its supposed to be in reality, I think I've found another two instances of female leaders with nail polish.
First off, Eleanor:
Rather subtle, and that color could just simply be representing her normal fingernails, but I'm led to believe it's actual nail polish thanks to both Eleanor's personality and the color matching very well with the pink color Eleanor is represented by in her Civ jerseys.
Here's one I'm not sure on, though: Bà Triệu.

Once more, it feels too pink to be their natural fingernails, but I'm also not entirely sure. I'll leave you guys to decide.
Some leaders I am certain DO NOT have nail polish:
1. Tomyris (such a natural color it has no suspicion):
2. Victoria:
3. Dido:
Granted, this is all based on color assumption- I am by no means an expert. This is just a glorified compilation of overenthusiastic guesswork, but I suppose if you're on these forums you're used to that by now
. If you guys could help me out, maybe we'll be able to answer the most important question of all for every leader: do they wear nail polish?
