Okay, so I ripped a DVD and converted it to AVI. And that played fine. But I only wanted a part of the DVD, so I used the freeware bobyte AVISplitter.
Now, the picture will only play in VLC media player. Which isn't too good, 'cos I want to send it to a friend and she doesn't like installing extra things.
Audio plays all right.
I tried using gspot, and here's what I got. (p.s., the video picture was there, but it went blank when I screencapped it.

Anyone have a clue what to do? I just want AVI file.
EDIT: It was the beginning part of the video split. I'm thinking perhaps something at the end was required? Footer or something? I dunno.
