This may sound like a really dumb question, but does lowering or raising the ratio for strategic resources increase the amount of resources appearing on the map? My gut feeling says that lowering horses that has a ratio of 160 to, say, 80 would increase it but I've played around with the ratios and haven't had much luck effecting the number of resources available. Thanks for any help provided!

I think, basically the "appearence ratio" is a percentage of how many resources will appear for each civ. meaning 100 = 1 per civ,150 = 1.5 per civ. The percent value might be 80 instead of 100 though. Various places have had conflicting ideas.

This is true. If you reduce the percentage you will have fewer resources. This percentage is to determine for each civilization how many resources it will have.
So increase if you want more resources... But after some essay I think increase too much have to delete the resource effects (game play resources don't further on anything...).

Note luxury resources have same factors but all have put to 0 and appears in game. I don't know how effect it will give if we try to modify them....

0 in the "appearence ratio" box means that it is random and ther can be any number from 0 to infinite. You can change this if you only wnat each civ to get a certain number of resources - on average.
