Hello all and thanks for any help in advance. I'm running on Vista 32bit with all the latest updates. I'm getting consistent crashes coming out of strategic view with a military unit selected (so far it's done it with a chariot archer and spearman selected. Anybody have any ideas?

Got a little more info for you. It just crashed coming out of strategic view again, with no unit selected. I was also in Direct X 9 this time (before I was in 10) and it still crashed. Hopefully they put out another patch soon.

I have the same issue both modes. Crashes within 20 secs of strat view. Also i cant run a duel min settings in dx 10 as well as i can run huge maxxed in dx9. Seems there are some issues to be fixed.

There should be some sticky on this. I think this is a serious issue they need to look at. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, downloaded the latest, direct X and NVIDIA 8800 GTX drivers.

I'm running a pretty vanilla Intel E6600 Dual Core setup with an Intel chipset motherboard. The case and fans are overspecced and nothing is overheating.

The C++ libraries, I'm informed, were updated by the installer.

I'm using the DirectX10/11 Binary. I have not tried the DirectX9 one yet.

Seems to me that it just flat out does not work.

Strat view is working for me fine, what are the specs for everyone here?

Civ crashes to desktop all the time in strat view for me, never can play more than 10 turns w/o a CTD. Happens during AI turns, during my turn, whenever.

Happens in both DX9 & 10/11, have updated gfx card drivers/directx, have tried both w/&w/o high detail strategic view, have tried with all other gfx options minimized and maximized.

Win7x64
Core2Duo E6600
Geforce 8800 GTS 512
4 GB Ram

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem. I really like playing in strategic due to the faster ai turns but its not faster when the game crashes so often!

I'm using:

Win vista 32 bit
Core 2 Duo T7500
Geforce 8600M GT
2 GB Ram

I upgraded my graphics card drivers today yet the problem persists.

I switched off the high detail strategic view in game options and I haven't had a crash for the first 40 turns of a new game. This might work, or I may have gotten lucky.

Your problems are different than mine. I can play in strategic view for as long as I want, but my game crashes the instant that I try and switch back to the standard view. I don't have a 9500GT with 2GB RAM and Vista 32 bit

I have the same problem as the other person, i cant play in strat view for very long before it crashes on me :/

I'm having problems with the strategic view as well. On my first 100 turns on Civ5, nothing happened, but now it crashes everytime I use it. The latest patch fixes the crash when I zoom in and out, but when I end a turn in SV it crashes again. In normal view I can play the game without any crashes...

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2180 (2GHz)
Asus Geforce 9800GT 512MB
3GB RAM
Win Vista 32bit

Same issue. EN9800GT card. Seems its a video card problem (I believe my drivers are up to date.. will have to check).

Anyway, good that it crashed. Some motivation to work instead of play.... :)

Me, too ;) GTX260.
Seems the common denominator is that we all have Nvidia DX10 cards. G80,G92(b), GT200 chips all there, so probably a driver issue.

Hi

I am trying to finish a game, huge map, 12 players etc.
I am on turn 530+ and the games keeps crashing.
I am running the game at the very minimals but still cant finish a turn.

Drivers and stuff uptodate, running it on Xp.

I can run a couple of turns if I put the map on 2d but I think the problem is that the game still loads all the 3d stuff and I end up with a 1.5g exe file on a 2g computer...

Can I disable the 3d stuff so that it does not load at all ?

I dont think its possible but I do am getting desperate enough to ask.

Thanks
