Where else?
Subject in title.

Also, Shanghai.

Take a ferry to Macau while you're there. It's like a Vegas only bigger.

Sorry for not adding anything to the thread.

Try to stage a political protest :p

Macau isn't bad if you like pissing money away on casinos and Russian hookers.

Anyways, take the Star Ferry. Not for the transport, but just for the experience.

For all its reputation, there's not a lot to do in Hong Kong that can't be done in other Asian cities. Walk around, go shopping, go to bars and clubs, and just in general marvel at how so many people can live in such close confines.

Get drunk in Lan Kwai Fong! EVERY westerner is doing it!

Also visit the Coastal Defense Museum on Hong Kong Island and the Gindrinkers Line in the New Territories. Both are great World War 2 battle sites.

"...And here's where we lost, and were conquered."

:p

Hah! You're one to talk, Mr Battle-Site-The-Mexican-Army-Overwhelmed-And-Took :D

Oh God, yes, do that!

I don't suppose you know there was a political protest against a Legco member for whining that Hong Kong holds so many protests it should be called "The City of Protests."

Ride bus 92 from Tsim Sha Tsui to Kwun Tong. Double decker...sit in the front.

Wander around Mong Kong or Kwun Tong. Eat chestnuts.

Victoria Peak tram of course, but don't miss the escalator!

Market in Causeway Bay

Just sit at the tip of Tsim Sha Tsui. I've spent hours there. Really great.

Head up to Shenzen if you have a free day....Macau's great too.

Have fun!
Chris

I would recommend the hills/mountains of Hong Kong. A good chunk of HK is mountainous unsuited for building. Thus there are a lot of nice crooks and turns up natural trekking trails that overlook the harbour and the large city area.

Yeah if you get off the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and just head south, you'll hit the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront that will give you the best view of the Hong Kong skyline.

Mom's family is in Shanghai, so I've been there a couple times, and went there this here, less than two weeks ago. Right now, its all about the Expo in Shanghai. I would recommend not going, and standing in line for it(Saudi Arabia-10+hours, Germany 4+, Japan 5+, and so on.), and the tickets are relativley expensive, about $40 USD. If you have time, and are bored, with money in your pocket burning to spend, go either early in the morning, run to a big one(Germany and Japan are popular), or go in the evening where the lines move super fast. If the latter, buy a night ticket, not a normal ticket.

If you're Chinese or can look the part, and can speak the Shanghai dialect(sp?) go to some of the Shanghai parks. Not big, but there's lot of stuff to do there. If you have time, go to the Science and Tech muesuem. You can probably skip the IMAX movies there. Has a lot of stuff. Also recommending heading out to Suzhou to vist the Ming gardens, espically the Humble Admistration's one. Wouldn't want to get a guide, as you can just find a large tour group and follow. No one really cares. Also want to view the Bund. Amazing view, and if you can get on a boat, even better.

As for food, don't go to the overpriced tourist stuff. In the morning, try and find a good place that sells long fried things that are french fries on steriods IMO called you tai(pingyin wrong, but whatever), as well as da bin, a sort of pancake thing. Can get an amazing breakfast at a price of about $5 RMB, less than $1 USD, and its pretty much the same thing as the "geninue" Shanghai stuff they give you at tourist places. Lunch/Dinner going to the tourists restaurants is alright, unless you speak Shanghai dialect. Then, go to any restaurant in the area around where you're staying. I would recommend asking the hotel for this, or an uncle that lives in Shanghai ;).

Lot of stuff to see IMO. Post pics, or it didn't happen.

Shanghai: I went to some black market somewhere which was awesome. Loads of fake brand clothes. I was with some Chinese people, and they took me there, I wouldn't know where it was.

Also, I went up the Jinmao building. It's right next to the international finance centre which is higher, but the lines were waaay shorter. If you go to the bar that's on the top floor of the hotel that's in the building, I don't think there will be any line. Plus, a beer there costs less than the entrance fee to the observation deck which is just one floor higher. And it's supposed to be the highest bar in the world.

Oh yeah, there's all these dodgy people around Shanghai who want you to visit art galleries, tea ceremonies and whatnot. I think it's some sort of scam.

Hong Kong: I went to some Island by boat, that was quite nice. There was a beach, some nice walking, but nothing really spectacular. I guess it would have been helpful if I remembered the name. ;)
