I know there is a lot of debate about "inappropriate" ads, but personally I consider stupid ones just as bad: they make the entire site look bad.

Case in point:

Seriously? It's just Dennys man. Not quite as bad as some of the other ads floating around.

BTW, Nautiluses rule!

I think that's just where you live, I've never had any ads like that...

Maybe regional cookies or something. Sometimes I get ads that say "Daters in [my zipcode] available now!"

Is there anything that can be done to prevent some of the newer ads from eating up CPU time???

In recent months I've been noticing more and more often that the newer ads are so full of "click me, click me" bells and whistles that the performance of the web site takes a serious hit. I've got a high-performance PC by all measures (CPU, memory, and graphics card) and the browser still lags seriously with a lot of these ads.

If anybody here has any direct contact with the advertisers, please tell them that when their ads screw up my PC, I get pissed off and make it a specific point NOT to buy anything from them. Yeah, like they're actually going to listen to that.

Rant done.

Were you gonna buy from 'em anyway? I mean, I do the same thing, if an ad pisses me off I'll avoid the company, but I wasn't really going to get a mortgage anyway...

Bloody Google... I've been searching for a new mobile phone for the past month or so, and now all I get is adverts for phones! Although it's better than the random "shoot a celebrity" adverts...

All my ads have been replaced by UGO ones, although I never go to UGO.

*shrug*

I don't mind ads, as long as they are not pop-ups.

those ads keep bugging me I won a green card, hello ad company, I don't live in a third world country! :ack:

You're joking, right? ;)

(I get them sometimes too :(, I think I'm too close to the border)

Yeah, me too. Except I started feeling bad about not helping TF pay the bills so I turned it off on this site.

You should too.

It isn't CFC's fault Denny's made a strange ad.
