Stuttering on SR MBP...

As in, the framerate gets really choppy, nowhere near late game...

I checked out activity monitor and it seems as if Civ4 is only using ~300MB of RAM, which doesn't seem right. I have 1.2GB of RAM marked as "free", not even "inactive". This seems a likely culprit, and if so, how do I go about fixing it? And can someone command+tab out and check activity monitor to see how much RAM their game is using?

What gen of MBP do you have? I have a first gen (Intel Core Duo processor and ATI Radeon x1600, and 2 GB of system RAM) and my games play fine. Perhaps it's a setting within the game that's making it choppy?
