[submod] Cross' Overhaul: 21 New Civs, Shia Religion, Civics Rework, Crusades and Much More!

I played with Armenia with version from 24/02/25, since you get very little impact on overall history. So.. (it's only one game, maybe i'm wrong)
Spain and France runaway in 1450, in 1470 i saw Spanish Galleons, France only start building of Caravels. HRE going not so good, mostly coz they can have weak military and constantly beaten by France/Spain. Academy got France first.
But somehow, later progress became slower. Probably coz weaker Free Enterprise and town commerce moved to Democracy? Or early Industrial tech should became cheaper? I found what now civc have less commerce income, compared to DoC (current version). Maybe coz huge military spending?
Canada got Film first, and only plus USA know Electricity in 1913AD
P.S. As for Armenia - UHV3 is crazy)) It's not easy at all, but still fun

I would not exactly label 1450 Galleons as very off. Only 50-80 years ahead of history .

Here is a little nifty trick when you are awash with Slaves and want to get rid of one particular character: rename them so you know which one to chose!

I'm doing a lot of alterations to tech progression lately. I'm hoping to reach a stable equilibrium in the near future.

My latest autoplay to 1776 was very successful in terms of tech progression and historical empires.

New Patch
  • Norman invasion war changed to Total War warplan
  • AI England gets an extra boat of invaders on spawn.
  • Tech priority changes for Austria, France.
  • Early industrial tech cost increase.
  • Slight increase in cost for Discipline, Cartography, Paper and Religious Orders
  • Increase production costs for Russian units slightly

I love the Greek Colonization goal however I have some observations that could help refine it.

For Starters the Massilia tile (which is the colony I assume to be represented by the 1 in Gaul req) is an "Italy" tile forcing you to settle a never heard of city next to it.

Is the 1 in Egypt req supposed to represent Naukratis (which isnt in game) or Cyrene? Cyrene is the more significant of the 2 but it falls into the "Mahgreb"

If changing the map areas is to distract from other civs UHV then maybe we can refine or change the goal requirements to more accurately reflect colonization

Yeah, I think Leoreth had moved Cyrene to Maghreb in a change a while back, and recently I added Marseille's tile to Italy, so that it doesn't get Hanseatic League and other northern European factors. I can make the change to add the counters to the proper regions.

I have noticed few oddities with the map of South America, not sure if the Vanila map has it too (this is all for 3000 BC start). Plot (40,15) has Cape on Plains. I am pretty sure it was meant for nearby coast tile not plains, but now it prevents founding of city Melo. Very strategic plot (33,12) has a city name ^ because it used to be a Peak but gets transformed to the grassland hill with a river during colonial contact. It can be named Santiago as well as the tile 1N of it, because Chile is the only SA country without her capital name on the map.

Speaking of which, Portugal's Sao Vincente really should become Sao Paolo for Brazil -- it is usually the capital and currently largest real life city in Southern Hemisphere, so we really need to see it on the map, please! Also plot (39,19) named Asuncion but it is in Brazil region and red for Spain. Perhaps it could be Historical for Spain and not belong to region Brasil so that Brasil civilization does not flip it? Finally plot 39,20 has an odd name Concepcion, Paraguay. We never use country names next to city names on the map and perhaps this could be corrected please?

  • Give AI Netherlands 3 extra defenders
    • This is to help the case where Netherlands ends up in a colonial conflict with France or another continental power.

  • Further fixes to the proper "Vienna" location in some scripts.
  • Further updates to French, Dutch, German & British tech priorities of the early modern period
  • Slight increase to French city and colonial maintenance.
  • Slight HRE research rate buff.
  • Adjust Greek colony UHV to new region mappings for Maghreb and Italy.
  • Fix Republic of Wu --> Republic of China naming for resurrected Wu in the 19th century.
  • Remove two inland capes in South America.
  • Mapu Chuco --> Santiago dynamic name
  • Extend Mapu Chuco name to tile south of it
  • Remove ", Paraguay" from a city name.
  • Add Paraguay to Spanish settler/war map.
  • Move Paraguay tiles out of the Brazil region.

New Patch
  • Ballistics now requires Chemistry rather than Physics (in addition to Machine Tools)
  • More industrial tech priority rebalancing.
  • Remove Spring Steel & Fortification from HRE starting techs, add Consensus.
  • Slightly expand France's respawn zone to cover Brittany.

Last autoplay to 1867 went very well with only one real issue to address.

I might now take a look at tech costs / priorities from 1867 to the 2000s. My activity will decrease for a little which as I take time to look at progression decade by decade and play through the period to get a sense of things.

New Patch
  • Fix missing text key for Republic of Bulgaria

We are getting closer and closer to Australia :mischief:!

My Iberian Empire has just founded Marxism in 1631! Which make me wonder -- why don't we have exponential penalties on civs teching one era ahead of everyone else. More uniform approach will be easy to implement: no penalty for running 1 tech ahead of everyone else, standard 2% penalty for 2 extra techs, 4% for 3, 2^3 for 4, 2^(n-1) for n. And double the penalty for being 1 era ahead.

How you implement this, since most of Asia civs now fall behind Europe? (and it's look much better, than in vanilla)

Something weird is going on with the Hall of Fame. I was thinking it's not working for the new civs only, but now Isabella winning as Isabella cannot be properly registered.

@Crossphazer , perhaps I am wrong, but I feel like every single quest in this modmod got disabled somehow. I keep doing everything requested but my rewards never trigger. I am not sure if it is possible to debug it?

Since ME is warzone place almost every single moment, there is problem with razed cites. Sometime not a single city in Levant left, sometime there gap ib cites betwin Persia and Levant, so Arabia found 1st city here (only with Granary, maybe it should get some more building, when found)
Still problem with Kuds - in 50% its razed and Judaism found elsewhere. Egypt also can be empty.
And in Europe, India and Chine cites will be found again, but no one settle in ME after Arabs spawn.
Maybe add mechanic of spawning independent cites (with some culture) to key places (Allepo, Kuds, Damask, Babil and some Egypt cites?) if there no city around?

And one more. I saw shrines only in Europe. Maybe coz there no safe passage to holy city and AI don't want risk with Prophet? Maybe add some more willing to that? (like case with GM), or made Prophet like GS?
EDIT. Well, i put GP in all Holy cites - and... China bild Temple of Heaven only (i gave them 2 GP), India build Varanasi, Hindustan - nope, Iran had 3 Holy city (Orthodox, Shiia, Zoroastrizm) - build only Zoroastrian one (they do it, IRC in vanilla too), Mirsi (Islam) and Ottomans (Judaism) and Spain didn't build. All GP was settled instead of building shrine.

I got double TC event from Portugal. After they asked Economics and and i gave them - i got second TC attack

Edit. And some questions about China. I switched them via diplomacy to Burocracy and Isolationism - so they became very solid and can expand (and they did), but after some turns they switch back and became unstable, although Isolationism is favorite civic. So, if i don't do anything - they collapse as usually. Look at the Japan - then they get Isolationism - they stick to it firmly
Edit2. England also got 2 TC event. 1st on India, and they became vassal of England (TC stack was with HS and Lancers) them, after a while they build TC in London and got second TC event (with Read Coats and Combined arms cavalery)
