lol, do we have to right funny comments??
how is the game gonna be passed?? through the forum?

I think it's supposed to be send through email. By the way, which is the order of play?

Has anyone played their turns after Garwulf?

damn, okay, i guess i'll have to check my mail often then

The Exploits of Emperor John the First.

3640 - Rome builds a settler unit. Ceremonial Burial discovered. In order to create a more perfect government, we are now researching Monarchy
3520 - Antium founded on ideal site, fertile ground and 2 whale specials and 1 wine special.
3480 - Word arrived at the palace today from our band of armed explorers that it appears that we may actually be living on a relatively small island. Perhaps we should consider further research in the maritime sciences.
3440 - Antium built it's first unit, a warrior band, today.
3420 - Discovered Monarchy, once the people heard of this new government they demanded an immediate change. Now researching Currency so we can begin to fill our warches.. er.. I mean coffers.
3400 - Rome builds settler.

Started turn 3880 (without moving units), John-SJ was proclaimed King of the new Roman Monarchy and on the same day was struck down by a heart attack and died.

Forwarding save game to jc011.

OK, PLAY FOR THE GLORY OF THE ROMANS!!! :goodjob:
(you better win! :D)

(Part 1)

I, Magnus of Antium, now lead the Roman people. The calendar says 3380BC. The empire is fresh to my grip of power. I will need to consult the advisors of the last emperor, John I.

First I consult Baldie, the War Minister - I ask you, how is the state of our military?
Baldie: "Build More Units!"
Aye, how much do you need? we have but three cities and many able-bodied warrors, plus a strong phalanx and a powerful archer unit sworn to protect them - and where are our enemies? - I have seen no one.

Second I consult Wimpie, the science minister: I ask you, what is the state of our thinkers?
Wimpie: "We're #1!"
excellent. my predecessors have done well... .:goodjob:

Thirdly I consult with Greedie, the commerce minister: - I ask you, what be the state of our finances?
Greedie: "Discover Currency."
hmmm, I will refer that to the minister of science to handle that request.

Fourthly I consult Sneakie, the foreign minister: I ask you, what is the state of our dipomacy?
Sneakie: "Go explore!"
it seems that both the war minister and domestic minister also staunchly support such action. I belive this shall become a priority of our empire.

Fifthly I consult Elvisium, the domestic minister - I ask you, what be the state of the people of Rome?
Elvisium: "We should raise the Luxury Rate"
there was staunch rejection of this idea by the ministers of science and commerce. I have heard of no rebellions in our empire, the people may not be dancing in the streets but they surely have it better than the lowly barbarians!

And now a closer look at the state of the Empire:

Tax income is 4 gold per turn, there are no expnses, therefore we profit 4 gold per turn. The Treasury has accumulated 39 Gold to date. Excellent.
Scientific advance is 5 scrolls per turn, giving us a new advance every 10 turns, ahhh I may live to see one of these miracles! This is also very good. The next advance is called "Currency" - I see we are heeding the advice of our Commerce Minister! Very well then.
I hear rumors of other lands far away, places like Babylon and Persepolis and Little Big Horn and Paris and Thebes. I should like to find these places and learn of their ways, as none of our cities have such long-reaching appeal...

There are 50,000 citizens of Rome!!! (1st)
We cover 44,000 square miles of territory!!! (2nd)
We manufacture 9 metric tonnes of goods!!! (1st)
We have 9.2 children per household!!! (good lord!)
We have 8 year veterans in our armies!!! (3rd)
We have 4 lira for every person in the Empire!!! (1st)

I am proud to lead this great Empire and so begins the reign of Magnus of Antium, Emperor of Rome.

(ON TO TALAR!):jump:

It looks like I couldn't load the Civ MGE .SAV file with my Civ classic after all. It complains that the file is not a valid save file.

Garwulf, you said it would be possible to load the save file. Is there something I have to do for it to work?

Someone else who know something about this?

(I have the 2.42 update installed)

i have the same problem :(

I'm currently trying to work things out with some patches and stuff... but I'm doubtful about the results. I will probably just have to reinstall the whole game after this:jump:

Anyway if it won't work I'll just pass the game on to Garwulf so that the rest of you can go on playing.

hmmm,

maybe we can start our own succesion game (classic)

what do you think Talar.?
