Warlord
My friend and I have been able to play both online and LAN multiplayer just fine at my house. Today, we started a local game and it worked smoothly, but we didn't like our starting positions and thus reloaded.
However, here is where the issues began. When I created a new room, it didn't pop up on the list of LAN rooms on his laptop. Then he tried hosting a game and the room he created didn't appear on the list of LAN games on my computer. Why would LAN suddenly stop working?
So, instead, we tried online multiplayer. We were both able to see each other's rooms online, and the game worked fine. However, in the middle of a game, we both got an error saying "Network Connection Lost" and it brought us back to the title screen on both computers. I then went back to the multiplayer menu and it was highlighted blue already, giving me a message that Steam had to be online (when it already was). We checked our internet connections and they were both perfectly fine. We then restarted Civ V on both computers and were able to start a new online game just fine.
Why exactly would multiplayer suddenly start malfunctioning? Why can't we see each other's rooms on LAN anymore? The only recent change was that my friend upgraded his copy of Civ to Gold Edition. Is this an issue in the latest patch?
