Sorry to ask this question (AGAIN), but I can't find my prior post and I can't remember how to do it. But how does one "sue" for peace. By this I mean what screen do I need to be on and how do I click on the option.

Thanks (AGAIN).

Well, now that the forum is up and running again, I'll post what I was going to a couple of hours ago:

Well, first you need to get talking with whatever civ you are trying to surrender to. There are three ways of doing this:

1. Right-click on an enemy unit and select "communicate with such-and-such unit" from the menu

2. Go to your foreign advisor and double click on the face of the enemy leader

3. Click on the diplomacy button (it's a little box with a D on it in the lower right of your screen) and select the civ you want to talk to.

Any one of these ways will work, provided the AI wants to talk to you. If you get "So-and-So refuses to meet with you" message, you're out of luck, and will have to keep fighting.

Once you are in the diplomacy/trade screen, peace treaty should be one of the options

Somehow, I've made it through 6 months without having a trade embargo thrown up against me. Until last night. How do you end one? It began when I was at war with both parties, but very quickly one sued for peace. Within a couple of turns, they were even "polite." But I still couldn't trade with them. What gives?

They have to wait 20 turns for their treaty to expire before they renegotiate and probably decide to trade with you.
