I wanna make a scenario (In Test Of Time)about the first crusades. One that starts with 4 battlegroups starting outside East-Constantinople ,representing the 4 first crusaders army's.Who the will establish the four crusaders nation (edessa, antiochia, jeruzalem & Tripolis)
Each of the nations having some hereo's.Like the units bohemund, godfried of bouillon,Raimond of Toulouse ,Robert of Normandy,Hugh Of Vermandois,Robert of Flanders,.... (& Saladin,Nur al e Din,...)
This all on a hugh middle east map showing about 20 crusaders city's.

1) I would like to hear what you're suggestions are wich unit's to include. (besides about 20 leaders)

2)I would like to implement a system so that every crusader army played by the AI would go for the the territory they captured according to history. How can I do this?

3)I would need more unit - city - terrain art ,im not that good in graphics creation.
Anybody know where i can find good art for this purpose?

ABout the units. Go to: Downloads; Graphics; and the there is one called something like "700 Medieval Units" You'll probably find everything in there. There all categorized, too, so it's easy to find stuff. While your there, download one of the city graphics (I have one by Harlan Thompson, it has a nice Muslim city graphic in it).

I know it seem hard sometimes, but uh...
remember one thing:
through every dark night,
there's a bright day after that,
so no matter how hard it get, stick ya chest out
keep ya head up and handle it.

Set up one scenario file for each tribe to be played. Use the objective scoring system and define the objectives differently in each file. Everything else could be the same such as cities and unit placements. To be efficient set the objectives for each file only when everything else is finished.

units for the Byzantines

The Immortals (elite Byzantine troops, their version of commandos). The Immortals were based on the Roman leigon and won pretty much every battle they ever fought. They were greatly feared in the middle east at the time.

units for the crusaders

Squires did much of the frontline fighting rather than the knights, at least until the squires were all killed and the knights had to do their own dirty work.
Infantry were a key component of the crusader armies.

units for the moslems

the moslems pretty much were all cavalry. they were capable of outmanouvering the much more heavily armoured European knights and cavalry. I would suggest giving them one more movement point than the crusader mounted units.

Not an exhaustive list, just a few thoughts.

Ok thanks guy's for the advice.

To Thedirk:

1) What are Squires (light cavalery?)
2) What are the names for the moslim units?
(i dont want to call them moslim cavalery)
3) How do this immortals look like?

-------

other questions:

1) anybody know where i can find a good historical map of the middle east during the crusades (to pinpoint city's)
2) How do i name the reggular moslim infantry?

My scenario is just in his first fase ,so i will ask some more questions later...

To Duke of flanders

a Tip for you - etnical muslim troops

Aqingi : irregular turkish cavalry, mainly recruited by Saldjuqids near Ghuz tribes ( eastern Anatolia )

Futtuwa : members of a middle class association, linked by kinda cavalry pact - be careful thease were more like irregular outlawe infantry ( Iraq )

To DuckofFlanders:

Squires were assistances to knights (On and off battlefield). They were almost like a servant to a knight, too. Squires were usually teenagers, and they would become knights around the age of 18 or so. During the time as a squire, your knight would teach you to fight and stuff. It was sort of like an apprenticeship. You served him, he taught you to kill.

Also, another unit. Some sort of criminal or peasant infantry. The Pope granted criminals freedom and clear their sins if they went and fought for God. He also did this for normal peasants, and the Pope granted entrance to heaven for them.

Thanks for the advice guys

I know that infantry was very important in the crusader armies ,i'm just thinking if i give these unit low movement how long will the infantry take to reach the holy land?
maybe give em 2 movement (but that again is kinda like too much)

I won't include more than just an event for these peasant & criminal armies. In the first crusade they were just a poor mob that was eventualy destroyed at entering turkisch land ,so they have no importance.

Now i have a question about scenario making.
if you have made your'e own rules.txt and graphics bitmaps ,how do you get them in the cheat editor? Do you overwrite youre normal files in civ directory?
