I want to introduce a mod like

Once you researched an upgrade for a unit, upgrade starts out more expensive instead.

However, with each turn upgrade cost decreases. First by 1 gold, then 2,3,4 and so on... . It simulates how in our world products from new technology gets cheaper over time. It will reach a base value which is pretty cheap eventually after 10-25 turns (depending on era), which is about 20%-40% of original cost. 5 turns after that the unti gets automatically upgraded instead, as the old unit finally gets so obsolete the civ discards of it.

Without the strategic resources needed, upgrade will be significantly more expensive. For each copy you lack (regardless of presence of encampments), you need an extra 50 gold at the beginning, but the final basal rate is the same (and takes longer to reach). This means AI units will still get upgrades automatically, but much slower.

Players can choose to wait for cheaper upgrades or free upgrades at the expense of power advantage, or disable upgrades (in unit menu) to avoid increased maintenance cost.

If it sounds good, I might try and ask for help to implement this mod.
