Here's a nicer teaser in the meantime
How easy/hard was it to make Natural Wonders? Just interested in case of I try to sculpt something.
As a warning, be aware that if you want Nat Wons to blend seamlessly into the terrain (like Fuji), you'll need a heightmap, not a 3D model (you can of course convert a sculpt into a heightmap, but I'm not sure of the specifics on that, since I just used Terrain Party for Fuji and Tonlé Sap).
The hard bit is actually SV in my opinion, so not too hard at all. If you can manage 3D anything, then Nat Wons aren't a problem.
Cool! I wanted to see a Swahili civ (or Kilwa or something). And in my opinion it's way more fun to have a new civ altogether than just an alternate leader for an official civ. Plus you have made 3D animated leaders already... so I'm especially excited for this one!
I spy with my little eye.. a pillar tomb and a Jahazi! Wow, nice work!
So just a heightmap is enough, wow, that's even easier. Where should I start, any useful tutorials here or something in the game files to dissect?
@sukritact i try to make my own Wonder...Itsukushima Shrine for the first try. i use the colossus model as a base but it is a bit complicated at the Moment...would be super helpfully if you could give me the modbuddy Project or at least the built mod of your Wat Arun...please could you help me here ?
The Swahili are live!:
Congrats on another successful release!
I'm not too familiar with the Swahili leader, is he the greatest Sultan of Kilwa?
One of their greatest maybe: records of Kilwa actually seem to be relatively scarce. I've changed greatest to magnificent in the DoM text actually.
Could you release your mods for manual download please
No, too much effort to maintain.
The Swahili are, of course, sensational. Another winner Sukritact!
I know you probably get asked this all the time, but could you please consider uploading your mods for direct download for us Mac users like JFD and Janboruta's?
No. My reply to that issue is just two posts up.
Do you have any plan to create a custom palace art?
I think this will be a perfect addition to the Swahili civilization. (If that's actually possible by now)
A modern reconstruction of the Palace of Husuni Kubwa
Or perhaps a 3D rendering of Grand Palace as Siam's custom palace art - though probably this will be anachronistic since neither Bangkok nor this complex existed yet during Ramkhamhaeng's reign.
Palaces are generated by the civilization's ethnicity; I think that the only way to change that is to create a custom one.
The ethnicity also generates unit ethnicity and city center buildings.
That does not explain why Toronto has a building similar to the US Capitol as a palace in-game and thus would be a great candidate for a more unique palace such as this:
This is the most important government building in Toronto; it's the Ontario Legislative Building; Toronto is Ontario's capital after all
Not always, you can look at some civs - especially DLC ones - and they've got unique palaces when compared to other civs from the same ethnicity.
It's possible, it just requires some modelling work I'm not quite willing to put in: I've been thinking about it for Siam as a generic SEA palace, but I'll have to wait for the SEA DLC to release to see if they haven't already done that.
Separate names with a comma.
