Suleiman just gave me his entire empire

I've only played the demo, but the german magazine Gamestar had a Civ5 review (gave it 85% btw). They rate things like "atmosphere" and "UI" seperately and they gave Civ 5 6/10 for AI for stupid unit placement and giving up their whole empire save the capital after you conquer one city.
That's one of the things that need to be fixed before I buy the game. The AI stubborness in Civ 4 was annoying, but this looks like a game-breaking exploit that should have never made it past beta testing.

It could be a deliberate ploy to shaft you with un-happiness. :p

Do "gifted" cities count as anexed or just as part of your empire?

When you are gifted the receiving player decides if they want to Annex, Puppet or Raze.

Yeah the first game I played. Catherine had rushed like 4 cities to the NE of her capital towards me to limit my expansion. So I went to take the first one and I captured it without any problems. Then I started beating on the next one and she decided that she couldn't take my army so she offered me 3 cities some gold and some resources for peace. I was JEEZ how many cities she got. Evidently that only left her with her capital but as the game went on later she had a whole peninsula below her so she just started rushing cities down there as I was dealing with the new cities. Smart AI in my opinion. I didn't have some amazing army or anything as this was just very early game we was still in BC times. Though I was very surprised when it happened it was very justifiable in the whole picture. Unfortunately for her I still facerolled her.
