Sullla has posted the latest set of alternate histories for the ongoing season, this time completed by TheOneAndOnlyAtesh for opening Game 7! The real game saw a showdown develop between Elizabeth's peaceful Financial teching and Mehmed's military conquest, with Liz barely proving stronger as both were able to advance to the playoffs. Pregame favorite Suryavarman floundered, Monty did Monty things, Isabella was mediocre, and Burger King was screwed by an early dogpile. But was this "supposed" to happen?

Short version: Liz's win was found to not be a crazy fluke, but it also did turn out to be yet another lucky result for the high peaceweights. Mehmed was the king of this map, with the three higher peaceweights have similar odds after him, and pregame favorite Suryavarman was a huge disappointment, squandering his start time and time again and so never managing better than the runner-up position. And Monty... well, he was Monty

Izzy keeps getting unlucky too.
Her starting position wasn't great but she got 5 wins from there..rarely seems to have much success in live games thou,
i think she reached a playoff game only 1x.

I didn't have a whole lot to comment on with these AHs. Some aspects were unexpected - I'd been quite high on Sury and low on BK in the leadup to this game, for example. On the other hand, my overarching postgame impression was that this was Mehmed's map, so with him expectedly being the top leader here, the set didn't feel like much of a shock.

Sury stonks definitely have dropped a lot. I thought before he was quite good for tournament purposes but now am not so sure.

The others are mostly mediocre performers, I think, who got some good circumstances here.

And Monty is terrible

Sury being bad on this map, Mehmed being strong: both results I expected.
But I expected Lizzy to be FTD much more often than that (no metal => murdered by Mehmed), Charlie to win more often, and the game to be chaotic enough to allow every leader (including Sury and Monty) to win a few.
So it'll be interesting to see whether I confirm those results or get something a tad different. :)

As for Sury... so far the results of my various experiments all tend in the same direction: he's just bad.
Not the worst, but still bad.
He shouldn't be a Pool leader, let alone Pool 1.
