Summonables + Items

Currently playing a game and I found that my fire eles can wield weapons (Orthus' axe, Crown of Command, etc).

Anyone think this is overpowered?

Not any more so than items+other expendable troops. To be honest, I would rather keep Orthus' axe and other powerful equipment on highly promoted powerful units. If you really think +strength and blitz is better spent on expendable troops then on a hero (both for offense and defense), well... you do that. Personally, I like keeping powerful equipment on powerful units.

Unlike other expendables, there is no fear to lose the item with a summonable.

Or you can disband the unit after you attack, pick the item up with another summonable and attack again.

You never lose items when you attack anyway. If the unit loses the combat, the item is dropped where the unit was standing, presumably for someone else in the stack to pick up. This does mean that you can suicide lots of summoned units and give them all the benefits of a piece of equipment, but that's still not exactly game-breaking.
