He had earlier been expelled from Argentina for his 'insulting' views on the holocaust.
At Buenos Aires, sporting aviator-style sunglasses and a baseball cap emblazoned with the words 'sacred heart of Jesus' he scuffled with reporters and shook his fist at interviewers.
One journalist, Norberto Dupesso, told Argentina TV: 'He hit me - the bishop hit me. I was attacked by Williamson as I tried to interview him.'
Two men accompanying the bishop grabbed Dupesso by his shoulders and held him back while Williamson hurried away.
The Argentinian government earlier gave the ultra-conservative bishop 10 days to leave the country, describing his views on the Holocaust as 'an insult' to humanity.
The bishop outraged people around the world when, during an interview broadcast on Swedish television, he claimed that no Jews were gassed during World War Two and that only 300,000 were killed, instead of six million.
He could now face extradition to Germany, where Holocaust denial is a criminal offence.
The controversy began last month when Pope Benedict XVI sought to heal a rift with ultra-traditionalists by lifting a 20-year-old excommunication decree imposed on Williamson and three other bishops.
The Pope had insisted that Williamson recant his views before he could be recognised as a bishop.
But the decision caused an uproar among Jewish groups and in Germany.
The conservative Society of St Pius X has distanced itself from his views, and removed him as head of its seminary near Buenos Aires.
Williamson, the son of a vicar, was born in 1940.
He was educated at Winchester College and read literature at Cambridge before teaching in Ghana.
A novice at the London Oratory, he entered Archbishop Lefebvre's St Pius X seminary and was excommunicated in 1988 because of his unauthorised consecration as a bishop.
