Russian 74th Motor Rifle Brigade moves through Kyrgyzstan to invade China
THE DRAGON AWAKENS, BUT AS CHINA FIGHTS BACK RUSSIAN FORCES POUR INTO NORTH Ulaan Batarr, Russian Federation
Awakening finally for the first time this year, the Chinese have had a leadership change and has brought now to the table a revitalized and revamped Chinese military. First order of business was the creation of TWO brand new armies, the 2nd Motorized and the Rapid Response Force of paratroopers. The existing military was also readjusted and renamed, completely giving the Chinese army a new look. Second order of business was the withdrawal from Kyrgyzstan, a policy decision made by the previous leadership that has been so damaging to the Chinese image in Central Asia, and more importantly, to Russia.
To face the continued threat in Burma, the Chinese have dispatched two more armies to the region to deal with the Indians. The first and second motorized divisions entered the fun from the north, with the first heading to the undefended western Burmese border with India, encountering only light resistance and was actually able to drift over to the Indian side of the border, attacking the city of Imphal and the Indian air force that was based there. The national air force was actually forcefully relocated to a safer location.
Meanwhile the 2nd Motorized division encountered heavy resistance in the form of India’s newly created 3rd Army, which is a conglomeration of new units and units transferred from the 2nd Army. Here in these mountainous and remote provinces of Burma the two superpowers fight. The Chinese seem to have the advantage here, though, with the gunship squadrons really coming in handy when dealing with jungle warfare and the extensive air cover offered from the northern and southern air forces based just a couple hundred miles in China. The Indians here have lost 3 infantry and a mechanized infantry division while the Chinese lost only 2 infantry divisions.
In regards to the two original armies doing the fighting, the Indians continue to pursue the Chinese southwards, finally the Chinese were forced to fight their way into Rangoon where the Chinese fleet was sitting in the port. Unable to hold the city against the onslaught of Indian troops and the lack of munitions, the Chinese evacuated what was left of their troops after the Battle of Rangoon to the fleet in the Andaman Bay.
Meanwhile, it seems things just can’t go China’s way. The Russians, completing a long eastward trek taking the better part of two months, decide they want another change of leadership in Beijing. The first army to strike in China was the Russian 58th Army, a highly mechanized and modernized army group pitted up against the battle-hardened and tired Chinese 1st Division, which came straight from the Kyrgyzstan front. Superior training, more mechanized units, and all around not as tired as the Chinese, the Russians were able to easily push back the 1st Division with little casualties and secure Ulaan Bataar. The 1st Division took heavy casualties, nearly half of its strength was depleted.
The next front came from Kyrgyzstan as Russian forces that form the famous 74th Motor Rifle Brigade crossed through the war-torn land and into Sinkiang. Resistance in these remote lands is very light, and the 74th was only limited in gains as to how far it could travel in a month. The Kyrgyzstani are very enthusiastic about the war, giving right of passage for the Russians through their territory.
And finally, the last offensive came clear on the other side of China, in Manchuria, where Russian forces in the form of the 2nd Guards Taman Motor Rifle Division launched an invasion across the border. Manchuria is very important in the hearts and minds of many Chinese, and so the mere fact that these lands were defended only by local militia was very disheartening to many Chinese people. Here the population is somewhat denser, and so the 2nd Taman had trouble advancing far due to its minimal size.
I know I said the last offensive was the last Russian move, but what I meant to say it was the last successful Russian move. The final assault from Russia came in the form of the newly created 76th Guards Air Assault Red Banner Division, a costly new army put together in the east by Moscow strategists. While the Russians do have control over the skies of northern China, they did not anticipate that Beijing would itself form a new Rapid Reaction Force, and guess what, base it directly in Beijing, seemingly waiting for the Russians to come. Alas, come they did, and they landed directly in the outskirts of the city preparing to take it along with the government. If the Chinese had not taken the precautions that they did, this would have been a lethal blow to Beijing and would possibly shorten the war by months, but instead the Chinese were prepared. Not only were the Russians beat back, but they were nearly destroyed by the Chinese reaction force, destroying 1 paratrooper and the gunship squadron sent to aid them. The Chinese, in the meantime, lost one paratrooper division as well. Now isolated and alone, the 76th is in danger of being completely destroyed, taking with it a hefty investment by the Kremlin.
HEADLINES
NIGERIA INVADES COTE D’IVOIRE, HALTED AT YAMOUSSOUKRO Dabou, Occupied Nigeria
Elements of the Nigerian 1st Army crossed the border into Cote d’Ivoire, formally the Ivory Coast, continuing its quest to subjugate the entire Gulf of Guinea region. The Cote d’Ivoireans (?) were quick to activate a defense plan they had drawn up in preparation for the invasion, and for the most part the defenses have done their job at slowing down the 1st Army. Elements of the Cote d’Ivoire defenses have done damage to the 1st Army, giving the Nigerians their first real challenge this year. So far, the Nigerians have lost an armored division and an infantry division in their assault, and they still haven’t taken the capital, Yamoussoukro.
SEOUL IN RUBBLE, FALLS TO JAPANESE FORCES Seoul, Japanese Empire
Bringing an end to a half-year struggle between the Japanese and the South Koreans, the city of Seoul, in complete rubble, falls to the Japanese. This marks the end of the war, as the Seoul government surrenders its country and the southern portion of the peninsula once again comes under Japanese rule. The moves leading up to the fall of the country were highly technical but very strategic on the part of the Japanese. Splitting the remaining northern portion of the nation in two and after heavy cruise missile and aerial bombardment from the Japanese fleet off the coast, Seoul was bombed into submission. As North Korea scrambles to mobilize its army, many wonder with China in as much trouble as it is, will Japan risk an invasion to the north?
BRAZILIAN 2ND ARMY DEFEATED, RETREATS NORTHWARDS Manaus, EULA
EULA forces have really punched deep into Brazil during this month, capturing key targets early on and securing, relatively untested, the major highways running through the Amazon and the less forested coastal regions. The last major battle for the Brazilians seems to have take place against the EULA 1ST and 2ND Legions, near the city of Teresina. Here the Brazilians prepared extensive defenses and infrastructure to aid them against the onslaught of the EULA legions. Unfortunately, they were just no match for the legions, having been forced back relatively quickly, where they currently are regrouping at Belem for a final stand, though it is not likely to be a very glorious one. At the Battle of Teresina, the 2nd Army suffered a loss of nearly half of its strength due to desertions and even some mutinied. On the other side, they did inflict two infantry losses, one for each EULA division. Meanwhile, the Brazilian national air force continues to operate, though at very limited capacity due to fuel rationing, against the EULA Air Armada, managing to take down another fighter squadron while losing one itself. In the eastern Amazon the EULA forces face a new kind of war. Guerilla forces, those loyal to the old Brasilia regime and those who just want their own autonomy, have sprung up in defiance to EULA rule. Many of the rebellions have supporters from countries such as Peru and Colombia.
PRSA INVADES ANGOLA, TAKES LIGHT CASUALTIES Lubango, Angola
The Angolese have put up a little more of a fight then experts had predicted as the Armies of Botswana and Namibia pour in from the eastern Zambia border. Angolese forces seem to learn from their brethren whom have fought the South Africans by not engaging the huge armies directly, but instead holding up in urban centers and fighting street-to-street battles with the South Africans. Here, they seem to minimize the advantage the South Africans have in numbers, and increase population support for their own forces. While the fighting continues, PRSA forces continue to be victorious, despite losing 3 infantry divisions this month, as they march on towards Luanda.
EU CONTINUES AGGRESSIVE EXPANSION Berlin, EU
Continuing the aggressive policies of earlier this year, the EU looks to militaristically expand its membership into many of states in Eastern Europe, enflaming anti-Western sentiment throughout the Slavic world. While most of Eastern Europe looked elsewhere when EU forces took Budapest, the invasion of Bulgaria by the 1st Motorized Division has set of protests throughout Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Moscow against the aggressive European expansion. Romania, the only non-Baltic European state left to not feel the touch of expansion from either Russia or the EU, nervously readies its armies for what it expects to be the war of all wars. Meanwhile, the 1st Motorized suffers two infantry division losses in Bulgaria and the 1st Armored loses an armored brigade and an infantry division when it finished up Hungary and moved on into Slovakia.
VIETNAM INVADES PHILIPPINES, SHOCKED AT SEAP Manila, Vietnam
Vietnamese forces boarded their invasion ships earlier this month, as soon as their government had finally paid off the enormous debt left by the previous leadership’s debacle in Laos. Now, armed with modern weapons and ready to continue the expansion of their nation, the Vietnamese turn to the sea as Cambodia becomes riddled with Indonesian defense troops. The initial landing near Manila went well, as did the subsequent bombarding of the city. After nearly half a week of bombardment, the Second Army assaulted the city, meeting tough resistance and losing 2 infantry before finally subduing the capital. The Filipino government has fled south to Davao where they continue to organize the resistance against the Vietnamese. Only two days after the fall of Manila, Indonesia announced the creation of the Southeast Asian Pact, one of whose members is the Philippines. Surprised and shocked that not only were they not notified of this agreement, but that they weren’t invited, the Vietnamese government has ordered a halt on the invasion until the political mess can be set in order.
SAN DIEGO AND LOS ANGELES FALL TO MEXICAN FORCES IN SURPRISE ATTACK Los Angeles, Mexican Empire
In what many experts saw coming, the Mexican Empire has taken steps to re-establish its presence north of the Rio Grande. Relatively conservative is a good way to describe this initial invasion of southern California, as the two Mexican armies are grouped tightly together and work with each other in the invasion of this highly sprawled and densely populated region of the USSA. Local defenses quickly gave way, not inflicting much damage, as they were completely surprised by the invasion. One mechanized infantry division and one infantry division have been destroyed, though, as the Mexicans fight for every street in L.A. and San Diego. Meanwhile the Mexican fleet has also attempted to extend its dominance in the Caribbean, launching attacks against the USSA Atlantic Fleet. Here, though, the Americans have a supercarrier, the
U.S.S.S. Hillary Clinton, which has more than enough fire power to quickly turn the tables on the Mexicans. The Mexican carrier has been sunk here, along with an American destroyer.
