Yet another thread about new civilizations to include... :p

Swiss:

The Helvetii can appear as a choice for players wishing for a "peaceful" and financial game

Unique Unit: Swiss pikemen, famous mercenary unit in the middle ages (it could be similar to the HRE pikeman)
Unique Building: Bank Vault (?) reduces possibility of spies stealing money and improves commerce & tax collection (?)
Leader: Wilhelm Tell (Protective / Financial) & Henri Dunant (Creative / Expansive) ???

Huns:

The Huns can be a in-between choice for players wanting some mongolian spirit with roman influence

Unique Unit: Hun Horse Archer, faster and with more attack towards melee units (?)
Unique Building: N/A (can't think of anyone right now)
Leader: Attila (Expansive / Imperialistic)

My two cents... your suggestions?

The trait combos you suggest are already in use, the only free ones are protective/organized, creative/charismatic and the "OP" philosophical/industrious.

Making Switzerland, a How To guide:
Step 1: Go to the Custom Game menu.
Step 2: Select Unrestricted Leaders.
Step 3: Choose Wang Kon as your leader, and Holy Roman Empire as your Civ.
Step 4: Start the game.
Step 5: If necessary, change your starting technologies to Mining and Agriculture.

Done. No need for a new civ. Next!

----Optional----
Step 6: While in World Builder find out which other leaders are in the game.
Step 7: Go back to the main menu, repeat steps 1-4.
Step 8: Add in the leaders noted in Step 6 with their intended Civs.
Step 9: Start Game.

Why do we have to restrict ourselves to only one leader with each combination? Why can't we just have two? or even more? I dunno... I don't have a mental constraint about it ;) :D

What I said about Swiss Civ is that I cannot see why should we have (with all due respect) Khmer or Mali instead of Switzerland. Variety perhaps.

Regarding the Huns be called Barbarians... how should we call the Mongols then? Genghis Khan regarded cities as an abomination of the pure state of mankind, which was wild on top of a horse :p Plus, Huns could be somehow considered the antecessors of Mongols (in some way) :mischief:

I ain't no Swiss nor Hungarian must say...

anyway, my humble thoughts... not want to generate trouble

Oh... could be used those... I just gave out tow suggestions...

Rome use to pay tribute to atilla the hun..

Huns would be awsome.

Unique Building for Huns can be Yurt(cottages)They can give +%2 military unit production.

Hunnic UU could be replacement horse archers, Tarkans, as AoE2 called them with a bonus when attacking cities and perhaps double pillaging gold.

UB, to avoid being too like the Ger, could be a little different, perhaps a replacement Improvement like a Camp which can draft one mounted unit every 5 turns or so for gold?

Mali was an empire that stretched across 400,000+ square miles of Africa. Half the gold that Europe circulated amongst itself came from Mali.

The Swiss, on the other hand, have only the ****oo clock and Nazi gold to their name. Not to knock the Swiss, mind you, I don't want to start a flame war and I'm actually a very big fan of them. However if Firaxis had added them over the Malinese, it would have been a major injustice.

And yet he still had an administrative system that kept the enormous Mongol Empire together for centuries. Certainly it fragmented into smaller hordes, but the Golden Horde lasted into the 15th century. The image of bloodthirsty barbarians swarming over the steppes to sack Europe is cultivated by--you guessed it--Europeans. An empire that lasts as long as the Mongols has to have cities and bureaucracies and government, even if its founder didn't believe in them.

Um the Huns became an empire called hungery. The Hungarian empire was sided with germany during WWI.

no thats not right. Im not sure why hungary has the word hun in it.

I suppose the hungarian plain must been were attila keep his horses ?

"The commonly accepted view of the origin of the Magyars (known as Hungarians in English) is that they were nomadic people, with indeterminate and disputed origin from the Eurasian plains until the end of the 9th century AD. They were organized as a confederation of seven Magyar and three allied Khazar tribes; the name Hungary / Hungarian is most probably derived from the Turkish term Onogur meaning 'Ten Arrows', signifying united military strength in nomadic symbolism. In 896 they settled in Transylvania ("Exinde montes descenderunt per tres menses et deveniunt in confinium regni Hungariae, scilicet in Erdelw") from where they took possession of Pannonia. Subsequently they also partly occupied what is today eastern Austria and southern Slovakia. After their defeat at the Battle of Lechfeld in 955, they definitively settled in the Carpathian basin."

Now, granted that's from Wikipedia, but it's not like they're claiming Hungarians came from the moon... Regardless, the dates alone preclude any relation to Atilla the Hun.

^ i like Belgium chocolate better.

But the winner is White Chocolate. (POLSKA)

If huns are included, Who are the barbarians then?

Akhuns maybe..or Oghusen,or avars,seldschuken(civ3)...
Damn almost all turkish tribes are barbarians..

I wouldn't really consider the Avars much of a barbarian, but are any of them as big of a barbarian as the huns?

For civilization 3 they are all barbarians.

But there is something, avars have a queen. She lay a siege on Konstantiniyye.
Avars can be added as playable civilization. Then we will have more female leaders.Just a idea.
