So my friend and I play our civ multiplayer match, once every week or two for a few hours when we have time. We loaded it up today, for the first time in, actually probably 3 weeks. He is the host and when I join I am given a different civ. I was Washington, but now I join as the Aztecs. We invited a random friend in and then I joined and I was given Siam. Washington says it is suppose to be a player and everyone else says they are suppose to be AI, but it doesnt come out that way. Not sure if this is patch related or not since we havent played in awhile.

Any thoughts?

The new patch allows the last player to take over as host, if the host has left the game. This may affect games in process. I would think that new host has to invite a player, but not sure how any new humans can choose which Civ they want to be.

The problem is in the lobby, not in the game.

We started a new game and it happened again

This happened occasionaly Pre-Patch. I was hoping this was patched out in MP. I haven't played enough post patch though to know if it was fixed, but according to you it wasn't.

Its a bug that I am not sure the team was ever aware of as its a fairly rare bug (switching civs on a reload)

We got it fixed today! When host loads up the game pre-invite, he needs to kick out all the players (hit the red X in their civs box). That will assign them to an AI. Then you invite and you'll be assigned the proper civ
