Are the system requiremnts for the game known yet, and if so what are they? I'm going to be in the market for a laptop around the time the game is going to be released and I want to make sure it can handle the game.

Yes they are out. They are require a hexcore cpu @ 17ghz, 160gigs of ram and windows 8.

For max settings on a huge map at, say, 1680x1050 resolution, I'd go for 512mb dedicated video card, 2.4ghz+ (if core-duo style) processor, and 4gigs of RAM as your minimum specs. I'm guessing with a little more power than that it would be smooth as butter.

You can get one that'll play near-anything for about a thousand dollars. I wouldn't spend more than that, especially considering the laptops selling for $1,000 now will be $800 or less when the game comes out.

edit: Also, the game specs aren't out yet. These are guesses, so you can ignore this post.

I liked my answer better.

I scanned some game specs of March 2010...

My bet is that Civ5 will have as recommended:

CPU: Intel Core Duo 2 ca. 3 GHz
RAM: 4 GB
Graphics: 512 MB memory
Direct X: they will stay here with saying 9...

I think im in the clear. Got an Octadeca cpu @ 1337 thz, 666 yottabytes of ram and windows 10.

Really sorry to inform you that the required Windows are the Buena Vista (coming out right after Windows 10 and Windows XY. Sorry.

But I play Civ 4 with high details, huge maps and 18 civs without any problem.

You're fortunate then. But Civ 5 will no doubt be much more demanding, especially in the graphics area. I highly doubt a 7900 is going to be good enough, and that processor is very slow by today's standards. I could be wrong of course, but if I were you I would expect the worse.

I would say that the 7900 may very well work fine, depend on how much memory it has and how Civ 5 uses the memory. The processor is a bit weak, you will prob need to upgrade that.

i5 is better than i3, why not wait until specs and possible cheaper stuff is out

Do you think the new Core i3 530 GPU will make it for the graphics?
Or the Core i5 660?

(just in that case no need for vid-card)

Thos aren't graphic cards, they're CPUs. So I'm not sure why you're asking that question.

Those models (i3 and i5) have an integrated video with the CPU on the same package.

integrated video = crap

It is used for non-gaming purposes, like work situations where graphics have little or no meaning. The power/$ ratio usually makes it somewhat expensive, and it cannot be upgraded like a normal slot card. Just because a certain computer part is new, does not mean its good. Integrated video will always be the pariah of gaming, or another nail in the pc's coffin.
