Tactics and Strategy T130-T150

what great person are we going for next now that we have our prophet?

Are we going to get another scientist? Or are we going for another prophet for 2 shrines?

Our next great person is coming from Haz in 9 turn, 81% scientist 19% Artist. The one after that will be a prophet from AKtau (unless we turn off some of the priests there or increase GPP in Haz).

And yes CAV is positioning to attack TKY (they will arrive this turn when it is their chance to move). I am coordinating with Slaze from Team CAV about the war. The basic idea is to use our 8 cannons to reduce the defenses to 0% on our next turn. SANCTA will then get to take their turn and may reinforce the city (or evacuate it if they are smart). Then CAV will attack with their stack and should be able to take the city. If they have bad luck though or SANCTA puts a bunch of reinforcements in we might need to do some moping up on our next turn.

For GP in Aktua I think we could start running an engineer. A 2nd Prophet is needed eventually but a GE would also be very useful.

What is the plan with our 2nd reinforcement stack?

I can turn on an engineer and turn off a prophet in Aktau if thats what people want to do. The percentage would be low but getting an GE would be great.

The follow-on stack consists of 6 redcoats and 5 cannons and is just out of sight from SANCTA south of Taraz. It's ready to move next turn and I was planning on sending it towards Dragon Tears. The timing is set so that it would join the main stack 1 turn after the main stack arrives at DT. So the main stack can use its 8 cannons to reduce defenses and then the combined stack can attack with up to 13 cannons, 20 redcoats, 3 knights, 3 pikes and 1 Elephant the turn after. :D

Alternatively we could keep the follow-on stack in reserve at Taraz, send it to capture Chai or Zue Cha (but I had CAV in mind to take these cities after TKY) or send it to Haz to do an amphibious invasion against Phoenix Mountain (we'd have to increase our sealift capability though).

I think we should ignore Chai or any minor city entirely until later. We gain nothing for grabbing them right now, and frankly, they are economically insignificant or even negative at the moment. As far as I'm concerned, Sancta can go ahead and develop them for us until we take them later. We need every single soldier on the front lines because we shouldn't underestimate Sancta.

If we win the war, cities like Chai naturally falls because they are cut off. It will be easier to circle back and take them then.

Switch to the engineer if you want. Maybe we'll get a spot of good luck. I agree with mikotian about keeping our focus on the major cities. I'd rather keep our forces together and coordinating closely with Team Cav rather than splitting them and trying to attack by sea.

Keep forces together - minor cities will just be a distraction. Only reason to attack them would be if they grow to the point where they can start drafting.

My concern is how we defend TKY while moving forward to attack DT. If they recapture TKY that will be very problematic.

Is Aktau producing enough food to add a 5th specialist? If so what about running 4 priests and 1 engineer?

We could run 5 specialists in Aktau but that would stop growth. I think we should hold off on doing that until we reach pop 10. Since we have our great prophet now it might make sense to turn off some priests for a turn or two to grow fast and then turn on 5 specialist when we get to the pop we want.

For TKY the concept is for CAV to capture it and garrison it with their wounded units while sending out some quick strike forces to seize the lightly defended cities of Chai and Zue Cha. Basically CAV will take over the rear area fight after winning the battle for TKY while we move to Dragon Tears and fight the decisive battle against SANCTA.

I'm okay with Cav garrisoning it with their wounded. But I would be against sending out "strike forces" to the minor cities. Any spare soldiers should advance with our main stack. Chai does absolutely nothing economically or militarily for us or for Sancta right now.

After we take Dragon Tears, our culture will dominate the valley and DT is a natural choke point to the rest of Sancta's lands. We can easily dispatch a few units to take ZC or Chai with almost zero risk. My only concern at this point is if Chai's culture will prevent TKY from popping borders. It doesn't seem likely, but I guess you never know.

I think that is a good idea. Lets do that. Maybe turn all the specialists off to get maximum possible growth to Pop 10 then switch to 5 specialists.

I think switch a priest to an engineer. That will give 1 extra hammer and id rather get an engineer than a 2nd prophet right now.

As to growing the city pop faster, someone should do some math.

SANCTA is evacuating their front line cities and falling back to Dragon Tears. They have left 1 rifleman in TKY and i'm pretty sure Chai and Zue Cha are undefended now. I suspect they drafted this 1 rifleman after end turn so they will probably move him towards DT when they are up.

They proposed peace: TKY, Chai and Zue Cha for a 10 turn peace treaty.

I think we should ignore the peace offer and move our stack straight to Dragon Tears. CAV can take out the lone rifleman in TKY if he is still there.

I am not totally sure how the culture work out when TKY falls. But I think the plains hill E of TKY will be free from culture. If so we can move our army N and then NE. That will get us closer to DT. I am not sure about the move order - but if we move 1st - it may make sense to capture TKY ourselves if it remains undefended (or even lightly defended). That could let us get closer to DT faster.

Once TKY is captured Cav will be able to move up units to join our stack (this will work if we move NE or N, NE). I am very wary of our stack being totally alone and having additional units in the stack will be very useful.

The problem with Cav moving up units is that TKY may be left weakly defended – and its recapture would be a big setback. However, by cutting a few roads I think we can greatly reduce counter attacking options.

For one, Cav should pillage the road 1N of TKY. That will prevent Sancta's soon to be arriving Calvary from being able to attack the city directly from DT in one turn. Well they still could - but the attack would be across a river. This will allow far fewer units to be garrisoned in TKY.

If we also cut the road 1E of our stacks current position (with our second stack?) and the road on the Corn (we may be able to move to that tile next turn depending on how culture works out) Sancta has no real options to counter attack.

I was going to make Krill the one getting chocked since he acted so arrogant earlier and then quit like a little baby the moment things started going against them. But at this point its probably best not to fan the flames too much.

I am not worried about leaving Chai alone for now (although a lone Knight could probably take it... eliminating any culture concerns/ backdoor attacks on TKY...)

However, I am a little concerned that SANCTA can still draft rifles from ZueCha.

I'm not really sure how to deal with that though... other than to just press on to Tears for a decisive battle against their main Army. If we kill that Army we will probably be able to push a little further into their land before they can mount another strong defense.

Are we prepared for a suprise landing on our East coast? If I were SANCTA, that is what I would be planning right now...;)

EDIT: I just checked Phoenix  There are 2 Rifles and a Galley there (along with a LBow and an Archer). They could (and probably should) load the Rifles into the Galley and attack Petropavl's 1 Lbow garrison, taking Petro in one turn. Since Pavlodar is garrisoned by a single Warrior, they might be able to blitz the remaining Rifle to Pavlodar and Raze it . We are finishing a Cannon there (1 turn) but with a Rifle, they could possibly get lucky and kill the Cannon (assuming that we left the Cannon there for defense).

We should assume that they have at least one spy exploring our lands and know what our defenses are.

So can we please move the Rifle in Hazrate to Petro, and make another Rifle for defense (before finishing the Galleon)?

:goodjob: on the war. Keep it up :D

PS - I changed the name of Ti Kuan Yin (TKY) to "Ti Kuan Oh" T...K...O... get it?

Good call on defense. We could also use our frigates to block a galley's access to our territory.

Have we had any recent discussion with Cav? We really need to coordinate the attack plan for DT. This will likely be the decisive battle of the game.
