The Sandman Each Night: Can Roleblock one Player. Any active abilities they have will be blocked.
You are a Scout, a Bostonian mercenary and hyperactive baseball fanatic. Youre fairly egotistical, and with good reason, youre fast, agile, and deadly. None of your teammates can even begin to match your speed, and as a result, you capture control points and intelligence far more effectively than any of them.
Youve been practicing with your bat, pitching balls to yourself, and have mastered the fine art of hitting things hard with a crude wooden club. Now youre ready to take your art to a whole new level, hitting living human beings hard with a crude wooden club. Show those stinkin cowards whos the best!
Health: 110/110
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Roleblock a Spy pretending to be a BLU offensive class (Scout, Soldier, or Pyro)
The First of the Three Roleblockers, he could block all active abilities. Certainly a powerful role for the town, so of course the RED spies mistook him for a scanner and killed him on Night 2. He did manage to roleblock robbiecon that night and prevent him from killing Kennigit, which would have created a suspicious kill number had robbiecon remembered to send in a kill on Night 1, meaning robbiecon saved himself from an early death through forgetting a kill and the RED team guessing wrong about Backwards Logic.

None of your teammates can even begin to match your speed, and as a result, you capture control points and intelligence far more effectively than any of them.
The sales of BONK! Atomic Punch have been dropping like a rock ever since a recent study scientifically proved that it causes violent liver explosion. Because of this, the makers of BONK! have decided to hire you, their number one fan, to ensure that as few of their paying customers die as possible.

Personal Goal: At least one BLU Scout survives the game.
A self-protector. He only used one of his BONK's, incidentally on the same night that 3 people protected CivGeneral. Other than that, Mat didn't do much. He was, somewhat interestingly, the only Scout who lived past Night 2, and came close to actually completing his Personal Goal.

Spoiler:
You are a BLU Scout.
Ability:
Boston Basher Ignores Cloak
Each Night: Can attack one player. 75% Chance of causing 25 Damage and Bleed (5 damage per night for the next 3 nights) on target. 25% Chance of causing 25 Damage and Bleed (5 damage per night for the next 3 nights) on self.

None of your teammates can even begin to match your speed, and as a result, you capture control points and intelligence far more effectively than any of them.
The Boston Basher, a wooden bat covered in spikes, who would have thought that such a simple weapon would have such a brilliant design behind it. Spy giving you trouble? Trying to escape by cloaking and running away? Hit him with this baby and you can just follow the blood trail straight to him. Its a little tricky to use, you still accidentally nail yourself from time to time, but for a weapon this sweet, its worth it. Now all thats left is to put it to the test.
Health: 125/125

Personal Goal: Hit someone who is cloaked.
One of many BLU roles who could hit people weakly, he was the one who attacked SamSniped on Night 1 and caused him to bleed for a few turns. He was also had one of three abilities in the game that could break through the RED Spy's cloaking ability. DaveShack later got his ability and never used it, meaning we never got to write an amusing PM to someone telling them that they'd hit themselves. The Bleed effect could be erased by Visorslash's ability. We're not quite sure why we decided that, but we just did.
Soldiers:
SamSniped
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Soldier.
Ability:
Battalions Backup Each Night: Can make you and one other person become invincible for one night, reducing all damage either of you would take to 0. Can only be used twice.
You are a Soldier, a WW2 veteran and schizophrenic psychopath. You sometimes get the vibe that everyone thinks youre crazy, no matter how many times your decapitated head collection tells you otherwise. None the less, you know more about the distinguished art of combat than anyone else. Okay, mostly you just make stuff blow up real good.
It keeps happening, a gap opens in the enemys defense, and you need your teammates to charge, but theyre all too spineless to advance! But Soldier, that sentry gun will tear us to shreds, they say! Soldier, were outnumbered five to one, they say! Soldier, thats a sheer cliff face with a three hundred foot drop, they say! Bah! Its time to show these cowering maggots that theres nothing to fear from our namby-pamby enemies!

A limited doctor ability, it could have been a fairly useful ability if used at the right times. Sadly, SamSniped used it the first time to protect CivGeneral on a night when Methos and DaveShack were also protecting him (incidentally, DaveShack protected CivGeneral with SamSniped's ability), and he used it the second time to protect CivGeneral again... while telling everyone in the thread about it, letting the RED Spies cackle evilly and Buddhafish killed CivGeneral with his kill-through-protect ability.

kill fire and I thought that a role like this would be fairly interesting in this set-up, and the Personal Goal would be interesting. It ended up with CivCube making up that thing about FoSing to try to take damage and he was killed by robbiecon without ever taking any damage. The nerve of that Demoman, giving your ticket to the gun-show to that stinking grenade launcher! You bet that if you fired armor-piercing high-explosive grenade rounds youd get free tickets to whatever you wanted too! Well, youll show him!

Personal Goal: At the end of the game, more BLU Soldiers are alive than BLU Demomen.
Okay, fine, we lied when we said everyone had at least 100 health. We forgot about him. Basically, Verarde was pretty much immune to everything at night (He could only be rendered vulnerable by Earthling's Jarate) a fact the RED spies learned the hard way several times, but had only 20 Health, meaning he'd die from pretty much any votes at all. Verarde pretty much lurked for most of the game, which is a perfect example of how not to play an innocent who's bulletproof. He could have seriously hurt the RED's by pretending to be a power role or, hell, just trying to draw more attention to himself. On the other hand, he could have also gotten the 2-3 votes required to kill him.
Pyros:
CivGeneral
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Pyro.
Ability:
Flamethrower Each Night: Can Target one player, revealing to you if they are a Spy.
You are a Pyro, a mumbling abomination with great expertise at making stuff burn. No one really knows much about you, everything you say is practically incomprehensible, and the suit mask you wear makes it impossible for anyone to even tell what your gender is. The one thing everyone does know, however, is that you like to set things on fire, especially Spies.
Your teammates are always amazed at how good you are at finding spies. Sometimes they ask you what your secret is, and even though it always comes out as an unintelligible mess, you tell them the same thing every time, if you set everything on fire, eventually youll hit what youre looking for. Youve never met a spy you couldnt catch, and youre determined not to let one slip away now.
Health: 175/175
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Find at least 2 Spies with your ability.
The Spy-Scanner, and the closest thing to an Alignment Scanner in the game. CivGeneral's Spy-Check would turn up a "Yes" for all of the RED Spies, as long as they weren't Cloaking, but it also turned up a "Yes" for Visorslash and Jarrema's BLU Spy roles (not MartinLuther's, both to complicate the scan a bit and to prevent MartinLuther's hiding ability from giving us a headache), and it couldn't detect robbiecon on account of his scan-immunity.
Amusingly, he completed his Personal Goal- by scanning both Visorslash and Jarrema. Also amusingly, DaveShack got his ability twice and hit RED Spies with both of them.

Spoiler:

You hate it when someone slips away. Every time someone escapes, it burns you in the fiery depths of your soul. Over your long career of arson and murder, youve seen one too many get away, and you dont plan on letting it happen again.
Health: 175/175
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: 2 times in the game, vote for someone who gets the second or the third most votes, and do enough damage to kill them.
Kennigit had the ability to do more damage on people who weren't in first place. He frequently made a point of not being on the first-place vote. Sadly, he never came anywhere near completing his goal, as the ability to lynch multiple people in one round was a woefully underused mechanic in this game.

Youve been burning Spies for a long, long time, but up until now youve just kept going about it the same way, time and time again. It was only recently that you discovered a new, superior approach to the great art of fiery death. What if, instead of wasting your time hunting Spies all over the place, you set everyone else on fire, revealing the Spies as the only ones not burning?
Health: 175/175

Personal Goal: Scan at least one member of 5 different classes.
A class-scanner, useful in some instances. I think I said a while ago that his scan couldn't go through the RED Spies' Cover Roles (or robbiecon's or mythmonster's, for that matter), so it would appear to have limited use- but it could have been combined with CivGeneral's scan to definitively prove someone was a Spy (since CivGeneral's scan would say they're a Spy, while Zack's would say they're not), or even catch the GREEN Spy (robbiecon's cover role was a BLU Spy, so Zack's scan would say he was a Spy while CivGeneral's would say he wasn't). At the very least, it could have let Zack see if someone was lying or go find other people to innocent-network-with/talk to.
Demomen:
SouthernKing
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Demoman.
Ability:
Ullapool Caber If Lynched: Can pick one person who voted for you, they will die.
You are a Demoman, a one-eyed, drunken, Scottish demolitions expert. If it explodes or is no less than 95% alcohol, you know it, youve tried it, and most likely, youve ingested an unhealthy amount of it. If its neither of these things, you dont want anything to do with it. Youre barely more intelligible than a Pyro, but if someone needs something or someone reduced to an unrecognizable mess, youre the man for the job.
Bah, that Soldier was never a good friend anyway, always leaving you behind to go prance about with his stupid heads. You dont need him, you dont need anybody but Scrumpy!
Health: 175/175
Alignment: Team BLU

Personal Goal: At the end of the game, more Demomen are alive than Soldiers.
SouthernKing was just a standard Vengeful Lynchee. Sadly for his personal goal, all of the Demomen got lynched by half-way through the game, and he also ended up blowing up Zack with his Vengeful Lynchee ability when both of them became the top suspects on Day 3. The game certainly could have gone better for him.

Health: 175/175

Personal Goal: Do a total of 240 damage with your ability.
mgsmuhammad was the one responsible for blowing people up a lot of times the first few nights. Like way too many of the innocent players, he got lynched for acting too weird in the thread. It was too bad- his ability had plenty of interesting uses, and created plenty of lulz-worthy moments the two times he hit other people with it (Night one, when he stickybombed Takhisis, who 4 other people, including the Bus Driver, targeted, and Night four, when he was among the 8 people who targeted CivGeneral). I still don't know how everyone forgot that mechaerik was caught by his bomb on Night 4, and I don't think mechaerik ever really explained that. It would have been a nice contribution to the innocents if he could have succeeded in getting mechaerik killed. Sadly, the only one he really managed to get even indirectly killed was Jarrema.

Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: At least 2 members of the BLU Defensive Classes (Demoman, Heavy, Engineer) are alive at the end of the game.
Omega was a Double Voter. He role was an almost exact copy of Buddhafish's Cover Role, which would have created an interesting situation if either of them ever tried to role claim. His role never amounted to much, as he missed a few votes, and the only time it ever made a difference was Day One, when he created a 3-way-tie and almost got Double A lynched. Funnily, his Personal Goal was still completable until the final day, due to the surprising longevity of all of the Engineers.
Buffalo Steak Sandvich Each Night: Can Eat at night. Following Day and Night, Your votes cause 20% more damage, but you also take 20% more damage from everything.
Each Night: Can scan a player to see if they are The Sandvich. If you find them, you will gain a new ability.
You are a Heavy, a Russian heavy weapons expert, and one bear of a man. Your towering figure dwarfs that of anyone else on the battlefield, and your gun, is none the lesser. You live to shoot, crush, and pummel any puny baby man foolish enough to stand in your way. You are the unbreakable backbone of your team.
This new Sandvich, it is no match for the raw, delicious power of old Sandvich. You miss old Sandvich. You want it back, and you will do whatever you have to to be reunited.
Health: 300/300

Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Find and Eat your missing Sandvich.
The hunter of the Sandvich. If Seon had scanned The Sandvich, his new ability would have simply been to eat the Sandvich, which would have completed his PG and healed him to full health. Unfortunately, The Sandvich was RRRaskolnikov's first vig target. Seon also had an damage-increasing ability that was basically the opposite of Takhisis's, but he never used it.
JoanK
Spoiler:

Bah! Is the same problem every time, you are killing itty-bitty little coward, and just as you are about to finish him, he runs, and you are too slow to hunt him down! Well no longer, you have new weapon, and now there is nowhere little baby men can hide!
Health: 300/300
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Roleblock 3 people who have Passive Abilities.
The second of the three roleblockers, JoanK could roleblock passive abilities, with his roleblock working on anyone but the RED Spies' Disguise Kits. He died too early to do anything, only roleblocking Double A (thanks to the Bus Driver), who had no passive abilities aside from the Disguise Kit, on Night 1. Although JoanK couldn't really have done much to the RED's aside from taking away the boosts that Buddhafish and DarthNader's kill abilities had, he could have seriously hurt robbiecon, as robbiecon would have temporarily lost his tiebreaker ability, scan immunity, and ability-copying if JoanK had ever roleblocked him.
Takhisis

All of the others make fun of you, they say you are too big, and say you are fat, and stupid. They think that because you are big, you cannot be sneaky. They are just angry because they are puny babies, and you could crush them with your bare hands. Show them they are wrong.
Health: 300/300
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Survive an amount of damage that would ordinarily be lethal.
Takhisis's ability basically let him be a big damage-sponge, and he did an excellent job of surviving epic amounts of damage until robbiecon killed him. Hell, he probably would have survived even without his ability thanks largely to Joecoolyo bussing Mergle's ability away from Takhisis twice. With it, he took epic amounts of damage and had about 150 remaining health when he died, which was more than the max health of most of the players still alive when he died.

You might be the only one who even went to college, you know that Doc sure didnt. Thats why its all the more important that youre here, without your machines, the teams defense would fall apart in a second.
Youve built a lot of guns in your lifetime, and youre proud of every single one of them. Youve shot people in more ways than you can count, and youre not running out of new ones any time soon. But whats the point in having all these guns if no one ever gets to see them? Nows your chance to show off your talent to the people, by any means necessary!

Personal Goal: Use all 3 Sentries, and use at least 2 of them successfully.
We decided to give a couple of the Engineers multiple levels of abilities to correspond to the multiple levels of the Teleporters/Sentries/Dispensers they can build in TF2. We did that for this one and electric, and thought about doing it for the Teleporter until we decided we couldn't find a way to make it make sense. So anyway, he was a protector with a chance of failing. All 3 of the sentries were attempted to be built multiple times, and Methos successfully built one to protect himself and one to protect CivGeneral, while Turquoiside successfully built one to protect himself after he replaced Methos. They both mostly only tried to protect themselves.

Yeah, the Engineers all lived a long time.

The teleporter, one of your favorite inventions. You can always think of a new application for it, transportation to a key point of battle, a quick escape, tele-fragging, but you recently thought of an entirely new, ingenious idea for the teleporter. What if you could trick someone into teleporting in front of their own attack?

The Bus Driver. Joecoolyo made decent use of his ability on the first two nights to help Takhisis avoid some trouble, screw around with tailless's healing, and generally cause interesting things to happen. He proceeded to never use the ability again. Topsecret resumed use of it after replacing Joe, and proceeded to get roleblocked twice, attempted to bus the untargetable Verarde, and finally got in one use of his ability on the final night to switch DaveShack and robbiecon, who hadn't been targeted by anyone.

Amazing what you can do with just a little scrap metal. If youve got the mind for it, you can make a gun out of a few cogs, pipes, and tin cans. A good challenge is just what you need to get the ol juices flowing. If those slimy little rats want you, theyll have to go through a whole lot of gun first.
Health: 125/125

Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Use at least 5 different abilities.
Perhaps one of the most interesting roles in the entire game, and certainly one of the most versatile. Basically, at the end of every day phase, I RNG'ed numbers and gave DaveShack whatever I got back. He could only gain active abilites, not passive ones or any of the Vengeful Lynchee abilities, and he also couldn't gain any of the RED Spies' abilities- if he rolled one of their numbers, he'd instead get the abilities of their cover role. As it turned out, it didn't matter much, as the only two times that happened were late when he got robbiecon's cover ability (which was an Invisibility Cloak) and classical_hero's (which was exactly the same as his actual ability). He ended up using most of the abilities he had, but ended the game with 5 that he had never used.
The RNG was kind of weird, though- there were, by my possibly inaccurate count, 27 abilities DaveShack could have gotten, and he still ended up getting CivGeneral's ability twice, Earthling's ability twice, and Red_Spy's ability 3 times.
Had he gotten an ability like electric's or RRRaskolnikov's that increases in power over time when not used, we probably would have just given him an ability half-way between the weakest and strongest forms of that.
Medics:
Skwink
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Medic.
Ability:

And forget the medical community, with their You dont have a license to practice medicine! this and their What are you doing with that mans spine you sadistic lunatic! that! They just dont have the guts to do what you do (probably because you took them all), and this team would have died ten times over if not for you! You should be entitled to the occasional late night experiment without consent, right?
You really do like the hurting part of medicine more than the healing part, but you should probably start actually patching up your teammates, before they start complaining about their missing organs again. Keep one or two of them from dying, that should shut them up for a while.
Health: 150/150

Skwink was pretty much a basic doctor, with a healing ability added in just for the heck of it. Obviously, a pretty important role, as he was the only person on Team BLU who could protect without any limitations. So, of course, he was inactive for most of the game, and only ever protected two people who weren't being attacked. robbiecon eventually killed him, and of course, didn't use the ability he gained from doing so, not that it would have done him much good to use it.

Vonderful! This device is truly a stroke of genius! A weapon that can heal and hurt someone at the same time! So many possibilities, you cannot wait to get started! Of course, all in the name of medicine. Always.
Health: 150/150
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Using your ability, either kill someone or heal someone enough to let them survive what would have been lethal damage.
A Heal/Damage ability. Could have been interesting if he had ever actually used it, but I can see why he frequently didn't. DaveShack gained it three times with his ability and used it twice, both times to heal Takhisis. Other than that, Red_Spy didn't do much.

Spoiler:
You are a BLU Medic.
Ability:
Amputator Each Night: Can Target Four People (including yourself). All of them will be healed 10 Health.
Passive Ability: You Heal 5 Health per night if injured.
You are a Medic, a German Doctor with a loose interpretation of the word medicine. You are the most important member of the team. Forget the others, with their whiny Doctor that hurts! After many long nights of hacking, slashing, and tearing, or as you like to call it, Advancing the Medical Sciences, youve created a tool capable of healing several peoples injuries at once with minimal loss of efficiency, and even better, youve done it without having to sacrifice any of the blades sharpness! But this discovery came at a heavy cost, best make sure that not too many more of your teammates die, or else you might lose your steady flow of test subjects!
Health: 150/150
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: At least 5 BLU players (aside from yourself) survive the game.
tailless was a mass-healer who was responsible for a lot of people suddenly feeling slightly healthier. He also healed a lot of people who hadn't taken any damage, a couple of people who died despite his healing, and a couple of RED Spies. He also attempted to heal JoanK a couple of nights after he died. Overall, he probably did more good than harm, although I'm not sure if he was able to keep anyone alive longer than they otherwise would have lived(except maybe Takhisis, who he healed several times).
Mergle
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Medic.
Ability:
Kritzkrieg Each Night: Can Target One Player. That Player will take 5 extra damage per vote the following day, regardless of whether or not their placing in the vote total would make them take damage normally.
Passive Ability: You Heal 5 Health per night if injured.

Youve run into a serious problem. You love hurting people, but you simply lack the firepower to really cause any damage. It is so frustrating! Thankfully, after a series of cruel, tasteless, and mostly unnecessary experiments, you have developed a device that can enhance the pain your teammates deal out. It is not quite as satisfying, but it will more than do.
Health: 150/150
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Deal 100 Damage with your ability.
The only Medic with a fully offensive ability, Mergle could have potentially caused a lot of people in second or third place in the voting to get closer to death. He ended up not, first because Joecoolyo kept bus driving his targets to people who weren't receiving any votes, and then because robbiecon killed him.
Mergle's Kritzkrieg works pretty much the opposite of the one in game, which grants the damage-increase to the person being Kritzkrieged rather than the people hitting the one being Kritzkrieged, but we did that with a couple of roles.
Sniper Rifle Each Night: Can Target One Player. You will shoot that player with your Rifle, dealing 100 damage.
Each Night: Can Charge your Sniper Rifle. If you do, then the next night, the player you shoot with your Rifle will die. You can’t charge and shoot on the same night.
You are a Sniper, a professional Australian assassin with an unparalleled talent for marksmanship and pissing in a jar. You could shoot a fly’s head on the other side of a sheet metal fence. Your team relies on you to clear the way for them to attack. It may not win your parents’ approval, but you make sure that if any of those bloody idiots is stupid enough to poke their ugly head out, they won’t be attached to it for long.
You’re a crack shot with your rifle. You know you’ve got the best aim around and so does everyone else. But you weren’t born this good, and you won’t stay this good either if you slack off. You have to keep sharp, and show everyone you’ve still got it!
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Kill at least one RED Spy with your ability.
A standard vigilante, aside from the charge (which we ended up deciding happens automatically if no attack order was sent), which we put in to balance out the large number of damage abilities that existed, and cause that's the way the in-game Sniper Rifle works. Even so, 100 was enough to kill some people. Ras ended up using it to charge-kill mythmonster to anti-climactically kill his epic role, then shot Double A twice to kill him and shot Jarrema, who died thanks to mgsmuhammad's bombing bringing him below 100 health. Then Ras went AWOL, and the Sniper Rifle would not be used again until he killed Red_Spy with it, and was instantly thereafter killed by the RED's after they correctly guessed he was a Vigilante.
Earthling
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Sniper.
Ability:
Jarate Each Night: Can Target One Player. All Damage done to that player for that night and the following day will be increased by 20%. If that player is untargetable, he will be made targetable, both to this ability and any others that are used on him.

Most people look at you and think, “Ha! Look at him up there, hiding behind that rifle, I bet he wouldn’t stand a chance against me hand-to-hand!” But what they don’t know is that you’re actually a master of Jarate, the ancient art of throwing your piss at people. What they also fail to understand is that there is no where one can hide from a true master of Jarate. Go forth, and prove to everyone the superior power of a Jarate warrior!
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Use Jarate on a Cloaked Spy.
Earthling was another entry in the list of innocent roles who didn't see their abilities get used to their full potential, due to his Night One death. DaveShack got his ability twice, but never used it. Too bad- he was one of the three people who could break the Spies' cloak, and the only person who could target Verarde successfully. His PG was also one of a couple that could have hinted to some of the BLUs that yes, all of the REDs were Spies.
Optical
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Sniper.
Ability:
Machina Each Night: Can Target One Player. You will see anyone else who targets this player that night, although you won’t see what, specifically, they do, and you won’t see who the person you watch targets.

A lot of people think of you as an unstoppable machine of murdering efficiency, deep in a constant state of violence and intense action, killing someone at every turn. While flattering, these people know nothing of the other side of your job. Sometimes being an assassin isn’t all about shooting people. Sometimes it’s about watching other people shoot people.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Use your ability on someone who is targeted by 3 people (other than you) in one night.
How appropriate that someone named Optical would get a role that can watch people... he did an okay job of it, and completed his PG many times over by watching CivGeneral on Night 4. Unfortunately, his watching of CivGeneral scan Visorslash and subsequent reveal hurt the BLU's a lot, and sent him to the top of the RED Spies' kill list. But then again, a lot of bad things happened for the innocents around that time, and frequently over the course of the entire game, for that matter.
Spies:
MartinLuther
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Spy.
Ability:
Disguise Kit Each Night: Can target one player to disguise as. Anything that targets you will miss, but anything that targets the other player has a chance of hitting you instead.
You are a Spy, a skilled French saboteur and dashingly handsome man. You are a master of stealth, stabbing, disrupting, and mocking everyone when their backs are turned. Despite what those other drooling idiots believe, you are the key to your team’s offensive. Without you, how would they push past that stubborn laborer’s machines? How would they stop that infuriating quack from healing the enemy’s wounds? How would they break that obese fat-headed fat fatty fat man? You have the finesse that the rest of those classless mongrels lack.
You hate Snipers. Those useless van-driving jarmen are an insult to the title “professional.” You wish nothing more than to rid the world of these filthy cretins, all the distance in the world won’t enough to keep you from getting your hands on their throats.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: At the end of the game, more BLU Spies are alive than BLU Snipers.
Basically, MartinLuther was a hider, only with anything targeting the other player having a chance of hitting him and a chance of hitting said player. It would have been an interesting ability had he ever gotten the chance to use it. Unfortunately, he didn't, and unfortunately for his PG, the BLU Spies were the fastest class to die- Jarrema, the longest-lived one, was killed by RRRsakolnikov on Night 5.
Jarrema
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Spy.
Ability:
Disguise Kit Every Two Nights: Can target one player to disguise as. You will gain their abilities for the next day and night phase.
These RED Spies are a complete disgrace. They can barely understand how to work the tools they’ve been given to complete their assignment. They are total amateurs! Nothing is more frustrating than watching these talentless hacks give Spies everywhere a bad name! You can’t take it anymore, show them how a proper Spy acts.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Use a copied ability on a RED Spy.
An ability-copier. Basically, the way Jarrema's ability works is that he copies someone's ability, then has their abilities for the next day and night, then copies an ability two nights later, and has that ability for the next day and night, and so on. This could have had a lot of interesting uses, and I would have lolled had he or DaveShack ever gotten the other's ability. But then he died, having only copied JoanK's ability to roleblock someone he couldn't roleblock and CivGeneral's to get a scan on the night he died. Like DaveShack, he could only copy the cover abilities of RED Spies, The Sandvich, and robbiecon.
Visorslash
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Spy.
Ability:
Electro-Sapper Each Night: Can target one player. Any active effects on that player, such as Cloaking, will be blocked.
True skill and style are hard to come across these days. It seems like fewer and fewer people remain who truly deserve to be called Spies. You could care less about the rest of these bumbling fools, but you must ensure that the arts of stealth and finesse survive!
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: At least one BLU Spy survives the game.
Visorslash had a fairly lame ability in comparison to some of the others, and we must apologize for that, and all of the other lame abilities we created. Basically, all it could do was block the RED Spies' cloaking or stop the Bleeding effect of NinjaCow's ability. It could have been useful if the RED Spies ever used their cloaks, but even so, it wasn't a very useful ability.
Alright, that's all of the BLU's. On to everyone else:
The Sandvich
mythmonster2
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Heavy.
Ability:
Sandvich Passive Ability: At the end of Each Night, if you don’t die, you heal to full health.
Health: 300/300
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: At least one BLU Heavy survives the game.
But you never really were on their side… well, kind of…
Spoiler:
You are the SANDVICH.
Abilities:
Sandvich Passive Ability: At the end of Each Night, if you don’t die, you heal to full health.
Each Night: Can Target One Player. If that player has a hat, you will steal it from them. You won’t steal anything but hats.
You are a Sandwich. Bread, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and an olive. The life of a Sandwich is often short, but you’ve been given a chance at freedom, your only hope is to acquire enough disguises to evade your pursuer long enough to escape. Good luck, and god speed, you are the hope of your people.
Health: 300/300
Alignment: Team Sandvich
Victory Condition: Survive to the end of the game.
Personal Goal: Collect at least 3 Hats.
The 5 Hats were randomly distributed at the start of the game, ending up in the hands of, IIRC, CivGeneral, Backwards, Methos, Takhisis, and robbiecon, which gave robbiecon perhaps the longest role PM ever. If the person who had the hat died while still having it, it would have randomly gone to someone else. mythmonster never got any of them on account of his early death. He almost stole Takhisis' hat on Night 1, but Joecoolyo's Bus Driving prevented that. After mythmonster died, I pretty much forgot about all the hats completely.
Aside from that, he was a pretty bland survivor, and I wish we could have done something more with it like we did with robbiecon, and I certainly wish he hadn't died on Night 2. His Healing Ability meant that anything less than an insta-kill or a lot of small damage that added up to 300 could never kill him, so of course he got insta-killed on Night 2. Le Sigh.
Still, it was a nice role, and it might have been able to do great things if not for getting killed so early. At the very least it would have given Seon something to do.
The GREEN Spy
robbiecon
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Spy.
Ability:
Invisibility Watch Each Night: You can cloak, becoming immune to most abilities. However, some things can break your cloak, and render you vulnerable to all abilities.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Use your cloak to survive lethal damage.
You have the finesse that the rest of those classless mongrels lack.
But I never really was on their side…
Spoiler:
You are a RED Spy.
Abilities:
Enforcer Passive Ability: Your vote breaks ties.
Enthusiast’s Timepiece Passive Ability: You appear as an innocent member of BLU Team to all Scans. On nights when you do the RED Team kill, there is a chance that some scans will ignore this ability.
You are a Spy, a skilled French saboteur and dashingly handsome man. But, as a RED Spy, you now have no teammates to rely on but your own fellow Spies. That’s fine, you don’t need the rest of those witless mongrels anyway. You are all masters of silent and skillful murder, and that’s all you’ll need to eliminate these talentless dimwits. With a bit of coordination and clever planning, victory will be yours in no time at all.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team RED
Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: At least 4 RED Spies survive the game.
But I never really was on their side, either…
Spoiler:
You are the GREEN Spy.
Abilities:
Enforcer Passive Ability: Your vote breaks ties.
Enthusiast’s Invisibility Watch Passive Ability: You appear as an innocent member of BLU Team to all Scans. Each Night: You can cloak, becoming immune to most abilities. However, you can’t use any other abilities or kill, and some things can break your cloak, and render you vulnerable to all abilities.
If you cloak and it is broken, whoever breaks it will discover that you are the GREEN Spy.
Your Eternal Reward Each Night: Can kill one person. For the day and night phase after you kill someone, you gain their abilities. You can simultaneously use an ability you gained from this and kill someone in the same night.
You are a GREEN Spy, far more skilled than any of the Spies on either team, possibly more so than all of them combined. It would seem that the BLU and RED teams have gotten themselves in quite a mess. It matters little, if anything this makes your job easier. While the two teams are busy killing each other, you can easily swoop in and complete your objective; kill all members of both teams and secure Well for the GREEN team. This might not be as challenging as you had initially thought after all.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team GREEN
Victory Condition: You can get a minor victory by surviving until either BLU Team or RED Team wins the game…
Personal Goal: …But you can only get a total victory by killing everyone else and becoming the last man standing.
An incredibly complicated role within a role within a role. We took inspiration from a lot of others to create the basic outline of it. The biggest one that I can remember: The name and double cover role idea both came from Those Darn States, or more specifically, the Ancient Multi-Hued Spycrab (we debated making it a Spycrab until we made it the Green Spy) and Moriarty in that game.
So, anyway, robbiecon had a seriously powerful role- He was a Tiebreaking, Scan-Immune, Mafia-Infiltrating, Serial Killer who could temporarily copy people's abilities upon killing them. Looking back at the game, the Scan-Immunity did him no good, as he was never scanned, he only broke one or two ties (the only one for first place being the tie on day 1 that killed MartinLuther), and although he copied a lot of abilities, he never used most of them. The only two he did use were Buddhafish's and mechaerik's, and both of them actually let someone else live a day longer than they otherwise would have, so before you say it's overpowered, his ability-copying ability ended up hurting him more than it helped him. Of course, it could have done more for him, and in retrospect, we probably gave this role a little too much. To be fair to us, we didn't make it with the expectation that the RNG would give it to robbiecon.
The "If you do the kill for RED Team" weakness didn't actually exist, it was just meant to give him a reason he could point to to not have to do the RED Team Kill.
Robbiecon did a pretty brilliant job of playing the role and convincing the RED's that he was one of them. I still say it was perfectly possible to kill him several times over, and perfectly possible to catch him, and he lucked out several times, but I'll nonetheless concede that his role could use a bit of tweaking. And I admit that my own laziness in sending the RED Spies' night results to their QT rather than individually probably helped him a lot, and may have been a mistake.
(Note: There are more than 5 of you, so I'm sending this in 2 parts)
You are the RED Spies.
The eight of you (Darth Caesar, Buddhafish, BSmith1068, DarthNader, mechaerik, classical_hero, Double A, and robbiecon) are the final remnants of the RED team on Well. You cannot allow the BLU team to succeed, no matter what the cost.
You are heavily outnumbered, and you only have one weapon with which to eliminate your enemies, but you do have one advantage here, your disguises will easily allow you to maneuver through enemy territory unrecognized, and attack without revealing yourself.
As a team, you can kill one BLU player per night, and you also all have individual talents that will aid you greatly in this battle.
Once the BLU team has been completely eliminated and Well has been secured for the RED team, the mission will be deemed a success, and you will be evacuated.
Team Abilities of All RED Spies:
Disguise Kit Passive Ability: Disguises you as one of the BLU Players
Knife Each Night: Can select one RED Spy to perform a kill on someone. Whoever performs this kill cannot use any other active abilities they have.
The Disguise Kit was pretty much just flavor, establishing that they were using it to disguise as their cover roles. It didn't impact the game much.
DarthCaesar/Autolycus/mayor
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Scout.
Ability:
Atomizer Each Night: Can Target One Player. You will see anyone this player targets that night, although you wont see what, specifically, they do.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Be the first to vote for a member of team RED on a day when theyre lynched.
But I never really was on their side
Spoiler:
You are a RED Spy.
Ability:
Cloak and Dagger Each Night: Can Target One Player. You will see anyone this player targets that night, although you wont see what, specifically, they do.
You are a Spy, a skilled French saboteur and dashingly handsome man. But, as a RED Spy, you now have no teammates to rely on but your own fellow Spies. Thats fine, you dont need the rest of those witless mongrels anyway. You are all masters of silent and skillful murder, and thats all youll need to eliminate these talentless dimwits. With a bit of coordination and clever planning, victory will be yours in no time at all.
Perhaps some inept brutes may chase after the first man to cross their path, but as a Spy, you know better. It is important to know who you are attacking before you strike, killing a worthless grunt accomplishes nothing, but killing a dangerous enemy brings you one step closer to victory.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team RED
Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: Watch a BLU Player use an ability on you or one of your teammates, and then personally kill them.
A tracker, and a pretty standard one. One of the RED Spies I was hoping would be able to use their ability to infiltrate innocent networks and stuff. He could have also watched robbiecon and instantly discovered robbiecon was not who he says he is. Ended up being replaced twice, and then mayor said he had to leave on the night that he died. I think this is a record for inactivity of one individual role.
Buddhafish
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Soldier.
Ability:
Pain Train Passive Ability: Double Voter. Your votes count as 2 votes for the purposes of tallying (but only 1 for the purpose of vote-damage).
Vote only appears to be 1 in the Vote Tally
You are a Soldier, a WW2 veteran and schizophrenic psychopath. You sometimes get the vibe that everyone thinks youre crazy, no matter how many times your decapitated head collection tells you otherwise. None the less, you know more about the distinguished art of combat than anyone else. Okay, mostly you just make stuff blow up real good.
Health: 200/200
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Without changing your vote, vote for at least 3 people who get lynched that day.
Ha! Can you imagine, me, a pathetic old lunatic like that Soldier? How ridiculous
Spoiler:
You are a RED Spy.
Abilities:
Ambassador Each Night You Do the Kill for RED Team: Your kill will go through protection abilties, if your target is protected. However, your kill will only do 100 damage if your target is not protected.
Invisibility Watch Each Night: You can cloak, becoming immune to most abilities. However, you cant use any other abilities or kill, and some things can break your cloak, and render you vulnerable to all abilities.
If you cloak and it is broken, whoever breaks it will discover that you are a RED Spy.
Even for a spy, you are exceptionally skilled with a revolver. You can blow a mans head off from twenty yards away and vanish before his sniveling, pathetic teammates know what happened. Some of the other spies question your abilities, claiming that a knife is a superior weapon in both practicality and style. Prove to them that you can be just as effective, if not more, with your weapon of choice.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team RED
Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: Personally kill at least 2 BLU Players, at least 1 of them through Protection.
Buddhafish could kill people through protection- but only through protection, making him pretty specialized. He ended up killing CivGeneral on Night 5 with the full knowledge that CivGeneral was protected, and then attacked the unprotected Takhisis, and got killed by robbiecon. Overall, he was one of the best RED Spies, and probably the only one who was never under any suspicion at all.
BSmith1068
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Pyro.
Ability:
Degreaser Passive Ability: Any Ability Targeted at you will be redirected at random.
You are a Pyro, a mumbling abomination with great expertise at making stuff burn. No one really knows much about you, everything you say is practically incomprehensible, and the suit and mask you wear makes it impossible for anyone to even tell what your gender is. The one thing everyone does know, however, is that you like to set things on fire, especially Spies.
Health: 175/175
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Using your ability, make one of the RED players target themselves or another RED player.

Thats fine, you dont need the rest of those witless mongrels anyway. You are all masters of silent and skillful murder, and thats all youll need to eliminate these talentless dimwits. With a bit of coordination and clever planning, victory will be yours in no time at all.
If you were to ask any Spy what they hate more than anything else in the world, they would tell you that it either has to be those repulsive jarmen, Snipers, or those incomprehensible abominations, Pyros. You dont even want to waste your time on one of those pathetic Snipers, so instead youve decided to hunt down and murder the latter. Make those monstrous freaks wish they were dead more than they already do!
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team RED
Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: Personally kill at least 1 BLU Pyro, either with the team kill or your Dead Ringer ability.
One of the two mafia Vengeful Lynchees. He quickly got noticed by a lot of innocents as scummy, especially DaveShack and Zack. So the RED Spies decided to bus him and Vengeful Lynchee Kennigit. Not a particularly valuable target, but he was able to complete his Personal Goal with it, at least.
DarthNader
Spoiler:
You are a BLU Demoman.
Ability:
Half-Zatoichi Passive Ability: For every 5 damage you do with your lynch vote, you heal 1 health.
Health: 175/175
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Everybody who does damage to you at night dies by the end of the game.

Thats fine, you dont need the rest of those witless mongrels anyway. You are all masters of silent and skillful murder, and thats all youll need to eliminate these talentless dimwits. With a bit of coordination and clever planning, victory will be yours in no time at all.
As a Spy, your enemies often underestimate your vitality. You are seen as weak, and easily crushed, needing to rely on stealth to survive. Idiots. They wont live to regret theyre mistake, and youll be better off because of it.

Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: Fall below 50 Health, and then heal back to 125 through any method.
A Spy with nothing more or less than the ability to heal on kills. That ability did DarthNader little good, as he never took much damage until robbiecon decided to bus him and ultimately kill him. On the other hand, DarthNader did manage to heal with his ability at the same time as his death, so at least he completed his Personal Goal.
He was the only Spy that ever used his cloaking ability, and only a few times. I'm disappointed- everyone that could break through it died by the 4th day, unless you count DaveShack, and he could only break through cloaking if he was lucky enough to gain such an ability.

Spoiler:
You are a BLU Engineer.
Ability:
Gunslinger Each Night: Can create a Mini-Sentry Gun, which can target one person. 50% chance of roleblocking that person, 50% chance of causing 50 damage to that person.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Either Roleblock 4 people or Damage 4 people.
You are an Engineer, a Texan genius with a wide range of gadgets at your disposal. You might not be quite as tough as some of your teammates, but youre sure as heck a lot smarter. You might be the only one who even went to college, you know that Doc sure didnt. Thats why its all the more important that youre here, without your machines, the teams defense would fall apart in a second.
Hahahah, my apologies, laborer, but Im afraid Im a little too old to be playing with toys
Spoiler:
You are a RED Spy.
Abilities:
Electro-Sapper Each Night: Can target one player. If that player is a Demoman, Engineer, Spy, Sniper, or Medic, they will be roleblocked, blocking any active abilities they have.

You are a master not only of killing your enemies undetected, but as well, sabotaging their weapons and devices, preventing them from fighting back. Most think that your skills as a saboteur are limited to the machines of the Engineers, that they are beyond the jurisdiction of your abilities. Make them realize just how wrong they are.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team RED
Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: Roleblock one or more members of at least 3 of the BLU classes that you can roleblock.
The Third Roleblocker, the Mafia Roleblocker. He could block most of the BLUs, and I'm still not quite sure how we decided on those specific classes. Anyway, he could block any of those classes active abilities. He could also reset the "Timers" on the abilities Methos/Turq, electric, and Ras/john, making them wait for their abilities to charge again, and he could make DaveShack's Metal not give him an ability the following Day. He used his ability to great effect, stopping a lot of people from doing potentially important things, and survived despite frequent suspicion by the BLU's. Eventually, robbiecon killed him, stole his ability, and used it to block mayor on the final night- which funnily prevented mayor from killing topsecret, causing the game to somewhat pointlessly drag on for one more day.

Spoiler:
You are a BLU Medic.
Ability:
The Solemn Vow Each Night: Can Target One Player, Revealing to you how much Health they currently have and what their Max Health is.
Passive Ability: You Heal 5 Health per night if injured.
You are a Medic, a German Doctor with a loose interpretation of the word medicine. You are the most important member of the team. Forget the others, with their whiny Doctor that hurts! Doctor shouldnt you sedate me before surgery? Doctor, thats my kidney youre throwing! attitude.
Health: 150/150
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: Scan any number of players who have a combined total Max Health of at least 1000.
Hah! No offence, Doctor, but I dont plan on healing anyone to death
Spoiler:
You are a RED Spy.

Revolver Each Night: Can Target One Player, Revealing to you how much Health they currently have and what their Max Health is.

When preparing to attack an enemy, it is important not only to know how great a threat they are to the team, but also how difficult theyll be to kill. Knowing this, you usually go after targets that are softer or wounded. But, after plenty of practice butchering those brainless pigs, you feel youre ready to start taking on larger prey.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team RED
Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: Scan a player with a Max Health of at least 200, and then Personally Kill them.
The Mafia HP Scanner. classical did a good job of helping the REDs figure out what a lot of the roles could possibly be, and got his PG complete very quickly by scanning JoanK on Night 2 and killing him the following night. Eventually, robbiecon bussed him and got DaveShack to scan him, which makes me surprised that that even needed to happen to make his scumminess obvious, and that none of the REDs ever noticed robbiecon's constant bussing.
Razorback Passive Ability: You take no damage from the RED Spys Knife Attacks.
You are a Sniper, a professional Australian assassin with an unparalleled talent for marksmanship and pissing in a jar. You could shoot a flys head on the other side of a sheet metal fence. Your team relies on you to clear the way for them to attack. It may not win your parents approval, but you make sure that if any of those bloody idiots is stupid enough to poke their ugly head out, they wont be attached to it for long.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team BLU
Victory Condition: Eliminate team RED.
Personal Goal: At the end of the game, more BLU Snipers are alive than BLU Spies.
Yes, and maybe next Ill move into a van and start drinking my own urine
Spoiler:
You are a RED Spy.
Ability:
Dead Ringer If Lynched: Can pick one person who voted for you, they will die.

Different Spies disagree on many things, but there is one thing that every Spy, universally, can agree on; they hate Snipers. The disgusting urine-stained novices have absolutely no talent, and they dare to call themselves practitioners of stealth and guile! You are determined to do Spies everywhere a favor and rid the world of these worthless hacks whenever possible.
Health: 125/125
Alignment: Team RED
Victory Condition: Eliminate team BLU.
Personal Goal: Personally kill at least 1 BLU Sniper, either with the team kill or your Dead Ringer ability.
Basically the same as BSmith, only replace Sniper with Pyro. They were both pretty much the same role that we created after we ran out of ideas, for the last role or two. We would have cut one of them if we'd gotten fewer sign-ups.
Had an interesting time of narrowly avoiding death on Day 1, followed by a few days of silliness, followed by being shot to death by RRRaskolnikov.
And... that's all the roles. Whew, that didn't take long enough.
Quite simply a mafia game is a minority of people in the know and the rest of them are in the dark. The fact that gave inside knowledge to someone who is meant to be in the dark gave them so much power. The fact that he was hard to find in the first place meant he was a tough role to get rid of. The fact that I got bussed by a neutral player is not a great result for me, since the knowledge of who I am would not have been known to him. I would have no complaints about Robbiecon's victory if he was not given the info of who was the mafia and thus allow him to eliminate whom he wanted when he wanted. You will see that the town only one mafia member of its own will. Now if Robbiecon was able to convince the town he was one of them, as his ability was, then sure he could have don great damage to us, then we would have been suspicious of him, so I think it is an hollow victory by basically giving him the game.

Was it really that bad? The green spy role was mostly my idea, looking back on it he probably could have been toned down a bit, but I thought the role was mostly okay. Then again, it's been a long time since I've played a mafia game, and most of the ones I've played in the past haven't had any roles beyond mafia and innocent. If it really was that gamebreaking, I apologize.
Although you must admit that robbiecon actually did play a pretty good game regardless.
And again, part of it was luck. If, say, robbiecon was randomvigged or something really early in the game, then all the townies would be complaining that 7 RED Mafia was too much for a game of this size, and if all kinds of bad things happened to both of you and the town won, someone would be complaining about the town.
So yes, robbiecon's role was probably a bit too powerful, but it wasn't game-breaking, and he dominated more by playing a great game than by being powerful. A better version would probably have been to make it more clear that he existed and give the RED's a better idea that something was up, and a better version also probably would have been 6 REDs instead of 7, because honestly, that made both you guys and robbiecon more powerful.
I have no problem with the role itself, just the fact that he was included in with the mafia. Since he had inside knowledge no one else had, that made even more powerful, my complaint is simply he should not have been given the info of all the Red team, since he was on a different team.
