This post is cross posted in the Multiplayer section, but I think this section gets more traffic and may have answers I seek as well.

What are some general Team Concepts one would need to be aware of.

My buddy is setting up a hotseat game for us and suggested teams. A team of two (us) vs 4 AI teams which are teams of 3.

Would we just horribly get out teched in that situation?

Few other questions:

How does our research work - can we stay on the same tech path?
Can i send a worker into his land to help chop wonders for his cities?

What are the benefits of being a team of 2, as opposed to two separate civs, that work very closely together?

Teamed civs have research pooled together. I believe your techcosts are multiplied by (1+n)/2 where n is number of civs on the teams. You can research separate techs but there's no reason to.

So you would have 50% higher tech cost, which would be effectively 75% of normal cost from two civs's research (the 3 civ AI teams would be at effective 67% of tech cost, so a moderate but not huge advantage). You could research faster by being non-teamed and gifting each other all the techs for most of the game, but of course one of you would have to get alphabet and you'd be slower getting the early worker techs up to that point.

Sorry, I don't have enough team experience to answer the remaining questions.
