Tech needed for Berserkers

I just noticed the in-game civilopedia says Danish Berserkers are supposed to be available at Metal Casting, but I can't build them until I have the Steel tech. I googled and some places say one, some say the other. What's it supposed to be and why is there confusion?

I think the last patch changed it to metal casting (supposedly for "balance" though Denmark still sucks), but I guess that only applied to BNW owners.
