Tech Stealing Bug?

Hi all,

I had a strange experience in my most recent game (Emperor level) and was wondering if anybody knew if it was a bug or some kind of AI advantage.

I was playing as Portugal and Babylon was tech leader, reaching Renaissance long before anybody else. As a result, everybody gets a free Spy.

As I was second on number of techs researched, I decided to place my Spy in the capital to defend against enemy spies. This seemed to have paid off as not long afterwards, my Spy caught and killed an Austrian spy who had attempted to steal a technology.

All well and good so far!

However - I was stunned when two turns later Austria stole a tech from my capital! Where on earth did she get the spy from?? I had just killed her spy and she should have had just the one naturally.

A couple of turns later she stole another tech from my capital! And then two turns later she stole another! Three techs stolen in the space of six turns.

I waited and two turns later, she tried stealing again but this time my Spy caught and killed hers again.

After this, no further techs were stolen by Austria (and I now had an elite Spy! :-))

So - is this a bug or does somebody know of some rational explanation?

Cheers! :-)

Yeah, I agree. If you're certain it was Austria doing the stealing each time, shoot this on over to the Bugs forum and see what they make of it. Could be something simple like a display error, where "Austria" pops up each time instead of the correct civ name.

Or perhaps Austria rush-built the hitherto undiscovered MI6 Wonder. :p
