Tech Tree Grid???

I saw this once but cannot find it now; does anyone have a graphic representation of the grid locations?

I get that x is position 1,2,3, etc left to right; but up and down seem to overlap...

I read in a tutorial once that you need to put a space between the techs on the Y axis to get the best results, example, 1 - 3 - 5 - 7, etc, etc.

Techs located on the same X-pos need to be 2+ apart on the Y-pos, but other than that then any combo of even and uneven Y-pos works.
