Technology Planner

Recently I took up SMAC again, and I was tired of planning out tech research with pen and paper. So I threw together a simple "technology planner" application which lets you see all of the prerequisites for a tech, not just the immediate ones, and, well...

It's self-contained, you can save it to your hard drive and run it from there if you like. I've only tested it on Safari and Firefox. I don't know if it works right in IE but it should work fine in Chrome.

Welcome to CFC and the Alpha Centauri forum.

Your app looks really useful (and I second the motion to adapt it to SMAX). However, I guess I'm dense but I don't see how to list the full prerequisites for a given tech. For example, how would I create a list of all the prerequisites for Bio-engineering? Thanks.

If you want to see the prerequisites for a tech, click on it. The prerequisites above will be highlighted in blue, the reverse prerequisites below will be highlighted in yellow. I'm new to Javascript, so it's a little wonky, but it should work.

Thanks! Got it. I suggest adding these instructions to the top of the page. Something like: Click on a tech to get information. The techs that are a prerequisite for the selected tech will be highlighted in blue. The techs for which the selected tech is a prerequisite will be highlighted in yellow. You might also want to add that javascropt must be enabled for this app to work. Nice job.

A sentence explaining it as Petek suggests would be handy, it took a couple of mins of playing around to figure out how it worked (I was using the [add] and [queue] buttons without clicking the tech).
