How do we classify our technology? At what size or "intelligence" is it classified as microtechnology; at what size or "intelligence" is it classified as nanotechnology?

Well , I'm not sure , realy . But , since I work in microchip manufacturing , I'll try to guess . Maybe nanotechnology starts when we talk about size of less then 10 nanometers ~10^-9 meter .

This is the definition of "nanotechnology" from Dictionary.com:

The science and technology of building electronic circuits and devices from single atoms and molecules.

There was no "microtechnology" entry.

I always believed that micro and nano were related to the size not the intelligence

micro = 10e-6
nano = 10e-9

i would say that Nanotechnology usualy refers to sci-fy's "nano machines" which are realy small robots (or living cells) that can do big stuff because there are A LOT of them programed to do the same thing.
so untill you can pour something out onto the road and watch "it" move down the road fixing it all the way down, i'd say we're not in "Nanotech" yet.
