Hello military buffs.

I've recently had a surgence of interest in naval specs. I was reading on Wikipedia about the class of carriers to replace the venerable (well, not really venerable since the newer models are very modern) Nimitz class carriers.

Anyone have a better site? What I'm really looking for is some cold hard numbers about how much ass-kickery this thing is capable of.

Any hopes for battleships with magnetic railguns as well?

No.

I've toured the Nimitz several times... it's freaking awesome.

will be cool to see what is next

I think we'll see railguns on navy surface ships within our lifetimes. But I can't imagine the battleship making a comeback.

No we arent. There are way too many problems having it fire on land let alone on some kind of ship.

You're referring to the CVN-21 plan. Details (mostly budgeting, but with some nuggets of design specs in it) here:

While they're looking at electromagnetic (vice steam) catapults, I don't think they're doing railgun-as-weapon planning for the ship.
