    Position: Chieftain

This is the Nomination thread for the office of Chieftain.

The Chieftain is the supreme leader of our nation, and holds all powers not granted to another official. This specifically includes the duties of Election Officer, organizing the Designated Player pool and appointing citizens to vacant offices.

To nominate a citizen for Chieftain, including yourself, post the name in this thread or PM Ravensfire. In order for a citizen to be accepted for the election, they must accept the nomination by posting in this thread or sending a PM to Ravensfire. Self-nominations are considered automatically accepted unless indicated otherwise. Citizens may only accept one nomination.

All citizens are encouraged to post questions to the nominees about their plans and qualifications for the office. Nominees are encouraged, but not required, to answer those questions.

The election poll will be posted at 6:00 pm, Feb. 24, CST, and will list all accepted nominations, in order of acceptance.

    Good luck!

I nominate Ice2k4 for the office of Chieftain.

I can't think of any citizen that's started their campaign as early as he has, so let's get him nominated first!

I nominate ravensfire. He's done a lot of work to push the start of the game forward and should get the opportunity to bask in the glory, if he wants it.

I also support ice2k4 as a strong advocate of playing the game.

My thanks for the nomination, but I plan to use my effort in another office, and help keep things running smoothly.

I would also like to nominate Falcon02 and Methos. Both have been very active in the pregame.

    To all candidates:

The position of Chieftain is that of a leader. What will you do in your first week in office to lead this nation?

    Thanks,

In my first week, if elected, I plan to of course settle our fine city, and make sure the game pace moves a bit faster (since these are the beginning turns.) In the meta game I plan to appoint 2-3 deputies to decrease the unemployment rate ;) I plan to hire a deputy that is in charge of turnchatly updated screen shots of city views, overall empire view, world view and other important things. Last demogame although the cartography office did a great job, screen shots weren't pieced together and thus made it hard to be part of the game without opening the save.

I also plan to create a deputy to run a history department, which the explanation can be found in this post. This way newcomers can get caught up on the game rather quickly.

Getting this nation organized is my main priority. Remember what we do in this term can set an unwritten code of standards for all the terms to come.

I'm not exactly sure how far we will get in-game this term, but i do hope that we can get our empire functioning and running, as well as hopefully see a second elder.

Question for the candidates: (And thanks for leading into this, ice2k4!)

One of the duties of the Chieftain is the organization of the Designated Player pool. What will you do to keep the process going smoothly? How often would you like to see game sessions happening, and for how many turns per session?

I liked the clear ideas of candidate ice2k4 about strategy (not agree with all,
    but this doesn't the matter).

    I shall support him.

    Best regards,

After a lot of consideration I've decided to accept my nomination as a candidate for Chieftain.

I believe the first week will be a very important week and possibly a little slow to move. There will be many exciting and very importants decisions we as citizens must make: choosing where to settle, what to research, what to place in the queue, whether to push for growth/research/production. I believe the first week of the term will be primarily the discussion on the above. I don't wish to spend too much time on this discussion, but I honestly believe the early turns are the most important turns of the game, and therefore should not be rushed due to our eagerness to play.

The order of the DP would follow the number of votes each member received from greatest to least. In other words, the DP candidate with the most votes plays first, the next most votes second, and so on. I would like to have at least two turnsets a week and would prefer, if possible, for them to be played online. The first turnset I believe should be twenty turns, the second turnset should be fifteen turns, and all turns after that should be ten.

Edit: Please ask any questions you have either here, or at the Methos for Chieftain thread. Thank you.

In regards to organizing the DP pool, I will be using the traditional method of most votes to least votes order. In addition I will be checking in with the DP's to see if they can play a scheduled turnchat that is not theirs, in case the original DP can not play. This way turnchats will stay on schedule, as the other DP's will act as backups. This means no more delaying due to something restricting the designated player who is scheduled to play. I would like to see the first turnchat (excluding the creation day chat, which should end upon creation.) reach either 20 turns, or terminate upon the creation of our first settler (which is a hypothetical situation.) Turnchats after the first turnchat should last anywhere from 8-12 turns, and I'd like to see one every 3-4 days. (4 days is preferable.)

    Question for candidates:

Do you think the Chieftain should have a role in fostering citizen involvement? Do you have any plans for the citizens role?

Do you have any ideas for ways to make the game fun for the most people possible?

I thought we always use GMT, (and other timezones as addition).

Although I have no way of controlling citizen involvement completely, I do encourage participation, whether it be in legal wrangling, game decisions or role play. I hope to increase the role play level during my term, as well as throughout the game, and although I do not like the judicial part of the game, I encourage all legal buffs to take part in discussion, as long as it's with in a separate thread than rpg or game discussions. Last DG, many legal battles took place in the game decision threads, and caused many people to just simply stop reading these long posts that had to do with technicalities. I believe that the judicial buffs, the rpg players and the game decision makers to all coexist.

My main concern is rpg though, as you can see we have only a limited amount of this. It is a bit early to start rpg, since we haven't even created the game yet, but I try to encourage more role playing through my paper (The Stone Tablet) and seek to expand in the near future. I strongly believe that every citizen should be attracted to some aspect of the game.
