Welcome to the Office of the Governor of Middle-Earth, Term 4.

Governor: zyxy

Term 3 thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=118297

Please post any requests for builds etc in this thread. I will try to comply with any reasonable request. Of course, reason is always superseded by the Will of the People.

This beautiful province occupies the West part of our lands, currently (890AD) with the following cities.

donsignia
Bentley
Warm'ogh
Roosting Tree
New London
Ela Springs
Skye
Chaos
Husborne Crawley
Halls of Mandos
Auchtermuchty
Delhi
Nijmegen
Tracheon
Falls Church
Mr Roboto
Barchester
Rivendell
DNA
Los Lobos
Arglebargle
Riva
Liveratica

I intend to let all cities that don't need Aqueducts (and are not hopelessly corrupt) grow to size 12. I am planning to run Skye as a settler factory (8 turns before Pyramids, 4 turns after, possibly 3 turns with rails and rushes). Other cities will peel off settlers or workers whenever they cannot grow anymore. Prime candidates are Husborne, Rivendell and Chaos (all high on food), Bentley, Auchter, Tracheon, Falls Church, Mr Roboto (all cannot grow beyond pop 6).
The cities Los Lobos, Arglebargle, Riva, Liveratica are Hopelessly Corrupt and will need to cashrush or draftrush their culture improvements.

Dear Governor,

I would like to request the Mayorship of Barchester.

Thank you!

Bertie

Governor,
Congratulations on your election, I would like to respectfully request the Mayorship of Falls Church for RPG purposes , since I am conquests challenged.

-Mhcarver
Chief Justice

To be honest, I have no idea whether these cities already have mayors. Presuming not, I appoint Bertie to Mayor of Barchester, and mhcarver to Mayor of Falls Churchs. Have fun!

MM suggestions

  • General: please take good care of Mandos. Check every city at least after it produces something, or when it changes size. Try to MM for as little food and shield waste as possible. The DP may deviate from specific MM instructions where they lead to unnecessary shield or food overflow.
  • Turn 0
    • New London: switch 1 citizen from tile SE to tile E.
    • Warm'ogh: switch 1 citizen from desert to (now available) plains.
    • Skye: switch 1 citizen from floodplain to plains, 1 from desert to plains (for faster settler production).
    • Husborne Crawley: switch 1 citizen from mountain to plains (for faster growth).
    • Tracheon: switch 1 citizen from coast to coal to speed settler.
    • Mr Roboto: switch 1 citizen from desert to saltpeter.
    • Barchester: switch 1 citizen from floodplains to desert.
  • Turn 1
    • Barchester: switch 1 citizen from saltpeter to floodplains (if the library will then still finish this turn, otherwise postpone this and the next change to turn 2).
    • Rivendell: switch 1 citizen from fish to saltpeter until settler finishes, after that focus on growth.
  • Turn 2
    • Tracheon: switch 1 citizen back from coal to coast.

Governor,

Thank you for the appointment!

BTW, if at all possible I'd love it if at some point we could build a cathederal in Barchester. (Barchester is a fictional cathederal town in a 19th century novel; my namesake, Bertie, is actually a character from that book.) However, I do understand that we'd be better off using those shileds to build units to be disbanded in corrupt towns in order to help them build culture, so I completely understand if you overrule my request.

Posted TC instructions, and slightly edited the draft instructions above, to produce more settlers, change Mandos in accordance with the discussion on Iron Works (no courthouse before Iron Works), and to accomodate for the ending of the GA.

@Bertie: sure you can have a cathedral. It's lined up and should appear sometime 2 or 3 TC's from now, I hope. It will probably be the first cathedral of the empire! (At least the first in Middle-Earth).

Draft Instructions Governor of MiddleEarth for TC 3 term 4, June 12

Note: assuming for the moment that the MGL will be used for IronWorks. Will adapt if not.

Highlights of Middle Earth, 1190AD

Middle-Earth holds the three most productive cities of our empire: Mandos, Husborne Crawley, and donsignia, with 26, 21 and 18 waste-free shields, in that order. donsignia, proud owner of Newton's University and Adam Smith's Trading Company (hiring Newton's graduates by the bushel), is the empires undisputed science capital. Really, Oxford is not all that it's cracked up to be - come study in donsignia! It is rated the third cultural center of the nation, just after - an about to take over - Oxford.
Husborne Crawley is by far the biggest moneymaker, bringing in 71 pieces of gold per turn, of which 7 somehow disappear in the pockets of the Husbornians. Husborne Crawley, Barchester and Rivendell (also in Middle-Earth) are the largest cities in the land. Barchester has the second oldest cathedral of the empire! Finished in 1180AD, at the same time as the cathedral of Provolutia and just 30 years after our capital constructed one.

We are due to discover Scientific Method in about sixteen turns. Will/Can the governor have a pre-build ready for TOE to be built?

Note: I asked this in Governor Double_Stack's office too.

@Regentman: sure. It's 400 shields, right? Then Mandos would need about 15 turns to build ToE. I could start a prebuild next TC.

If Fanashire wants this wonder, that's fine with me too.

Did the citizens make a decision on this wonder? And on Hoover, which is presumably next?

zyxy said:

One requirement is that the wonder is built with a river in it radius. While Fanashire has rivers, it does not have high SPT cities with rivers.

Husborne Crawley or Hall of Mandos can do that.

Allright, if the Mil Acad is not done yet I won't queue it up.

I didn't plan one, but I think DoubleStack did.
Do the people want this wonder? I cannot remember seeing a discussion or poll.....

Governor,

Might I suggest a few more settlers might be useful? We're still well below our target of 200 cities.

Thanks!

Bertie
