Terrain mod question

i've been searching through the mods for something specific, but haven't been able to find it yet. Wondering if anyone can point me to anything similar to what I'm looking for. Otherwise I may have to dust off my modding hat again and see if I can make it myself.


What I've been wanting: More finely grained terrain tiles!

I want a tile that can be 20% grassland and 80% plains. It should produce 20% of two food + 80% of a hammer and a food for a total production of: 1.2 food + 0.8 hammers.

You can play the same game with hills, forests, rivers, tundra, etc.

Movement costs would get a bit more interesting but you could round to the nearest integer value. Defensive values the same way.


I care less about the graphics than about the gameplay, but it could be interesting to see what could be done there. I think overall it could lead to interesting maps that are a bit more organic. Especially with some of the fractal map generators.

Anyone seen anything like this started (or finished) anywhere?
