Text during game play is scrambled and unreadable

I am trying to play the game but the text is all scrambled. The text on the home screen is completely unreadable and once you get into the game itself (I guessed at the options) there are parts that are readable and then it gets all messed up.

The obvious answer is that I have selected the wrong language but that is not the case. There are whole sentences that I can partially read and then it looks like foreign characters or wingding characters.

Can you please help me solve this issue so I can play the game and know what I am doing.
