TF2 (split from screenshots thread)

A rocket launcher of any kind is powerful in the hands of someone who can use it. It trades that many uses of the splash damage for pure offense. You can't clear a big batch of stickies, damage people hiding around corners, or damage spread out groups. You trade those abilities for the ability to rock face in 1v1 fights.

So far I love this update. All of the soldier's items are cool entries and viable weapons. Balance-wise the equalizer is a pretty clear upgrade over the shovel so something needs to be tweaked there. The boots are super fun if you know your jumping/rocket rain :D

I love the demo ideas but I think the targe and sword need some balancing.
 
Maybe a little OP it seems like? Although that could just be due to people not having much experience dealing with it yet.

A little OP. Damage reduction on the shield is far too much. I realize that they put it there so that without the sword it is still a viable alternate to the sticky launcher. I think they should drop the damage resist down to something like 25-30% explosive keep fire at 50% and give it a primary attack that does about as much damage as the scout bat and knocks people back.

Sword should keep the speed buff, drop the health penalty and drop the health buff.
 
Gotten some of the new weapons. Out of the weapons I started to like the Scotish Resistance sticky launcher.
 
do we have the ability to build things yet?

I'm asking because I want a sword but I don't see myself getting any of the achievements
 
Well we can craft things by scraping items obtain via the drop feature. Though it's gonna take a lot of weapons to get the Eyelander (to create scrap metal, class and slot (melée) tokens).
 
Yes, crafting new items from items in the inventory is functional now, although it's grindy as hell and you need too many items to make things, so I wouldn't bet on crafting a sword too quickly. I fiddled about with the system a bit earlier and converted some backburners into reclaimed metal or something, which after approximately twelve thousand hours of play I will add to the other three metals I will have crafted by then to create a new hat.
 
I got the sword and Scottish revenge within 5 minutes of play a soldier last night. Weapons are easy enough to get, at worst someone could help you farm the needed achievements.

You need something like 40 items to get a single crafted item. On the other hand, they upped the drop rates a lot. I still havent gotten any of the new weapons, although I got like 10 other things while playing (still no hats!)
 
Then you just need about 40 other items. And you might end up with a hat!
 
It seems drops are broken. I've played 10+ hours since the WAR update and not received a single thing. Even some of my milestone items aren't coming to me.
 
I've played 4.4 TF2 hours in the past fortnight and have unlocked the Chargin' Targe and the Equalizer. Although the 20 kills with the equaliser whilst under 25 hp doesn't seem to be working for me.
 
Drops are working fine. In fact, it seems they upped the probabilities.

VALVe is still ironing out the bugs they've introduced with the update, and there was a problem during the update when the steam servers were down the milestones were not giving items, but it should keep track of them and will give the item(s) to you when you next play and its working.
