A year ago today I asked for name suggestions for my new baby. Here's what happened:
My wife made many visits to the hospital in Shanghai (no GP's here) complaining of pain. They didn't spot the infection despite taking many samples.
On the 22nd of Dec her waters broke (I knew this from what happened before) . I raced out into the street whlie my wife and her mother were packing and got a taxi.
There was some heavy traffic, but our luck was in. I spotted a police car and flagged him down. After some miming (I speak no Chinese) he sped off on the wrong side off the road to the hospital with us behind. The taxi driver was having the time of his life.
That was a hell of a mime.
It was then that I asked for baby name suggestions on here. Thanks to all for that. I went for an Indian name in the end, resisting the stripper names that I was being offered.
Two days later they decided to do a caesarian and I had to sign a form to say I agree with killing one or the other if things got bad. Naturally I signed that they should save the wife and kill the baby.
Anyway, a couple of hours later the surgeon (sweat running down his face) emerged from the theatre and presented us with 1.3 kilos of meat (see pic) and a message that my wife was also OK.
He also said it was in the nick of time as the infection was getting close to the baby. He was genuinely delighted and surprised that both had survived. I didn't want to post any more on it as her chance of survival was equal to that of one of Mobosses arguments surviving on here.
In fact she was the youngest, smallest and weakest baby to ever survive in that hospital. I'm sure they paid double attention because of her foreign daddy.Anyway, one year has passed and she's doing great. Pretty, intelligent, mild-mannered and growing at a good speed. Yesterday she had her first birthday and she kissed her mother
That's basically it.
