Humankind 2 has good art!

A serious rethink of the culture swap mechanic is needed. Please give some thought to a "classic mode" where civs retain culture throughout the game. You can still achieve the balance Carl spoke about in the trailer by letting leaders gain / modify traits by era.

I understand a need to innovate but this was a bridge too far. Still a lot of time till launch, but it's also getting late early. Find a way to salvage this for longtime fans!

I think people will warm up on the Civ switching. The restrictions on which civs you can evolve into are what saves it. It seems for most part you will be switching to a civ that was a historical successor of your current civ, and exceptions will also make sense and be tied to gameplay or your chosen leader.

Being able to finally play as a Rome that evolves into modern day Italy increases immersion rather than breaking it, if you ask me.

The gameplay showcase and the following vids by Quill and Boesthius allayed my fears, tbh. It looks good and logical. It's like Humankind, yes, but in a way that can preserve immersion.

Game looked amazing and I'm so happy Civ is actually innovating and really trying some risky new things. Instant founder pre-order for me.

Appreciate you posting here, but as a long-time "Civfanatic," my run with Civ ends here ... provided we don't get an optional "Classic" mode.

Why should I have to pick a new team at halftime? And given some of the wonky progression paths, I'd certainly want that to be disabled for the AI as well.

The more I think about it, I just feel the overall concept is wrong.

If the game kept the same civilization throughout history, but gave us a new leader to choose as we enter each new era, I would be thrilled. That would give the civilization an opportunity to grow, and change directions as all cultures do over time. But it would still be the same civilization, which is the thing that has always made this game so special through its six previous iterations.

How can we build a civilization that will "stand the test of time" if our original civilization no longer exists.
