To me, the biggest problem with 3.02/3.03 was that the AI's economy sucked horribly. Even Solver's patch didn't really fix that problem.

Well, after playing a bit with 3.13, it seems this has been fixed. The AI now actually builds and works cottages and its tech rate is fine. Also, they apparently fixed the bugs where the Governor works strictly inferior tiles. Thank God!

I agree that AI teching is definitely improved. I actually have to work to stay ahead in the tech race now.

The other big improvement I've noticed is that the AI no longer forgets to build an army during the ancient era...

You talk of the 2 fixes as separate stuff but I actually think the first is a consequence of the second.

Yes, better teching is letting the AI build better units, but it is also building a sufficient number of units, making the onslaught-as-soon-as-I-find-copper a bit more difficult.

onedreamer, I guess you mean that the governor bug fix helped their economy?

I definitely agree that is the case, and I phrased it poorly. But there are also other things, like the fact that it builds a lot more cottages, which help immensely.

One time, I was quite amused to see an AI (who had gotten Pottery before Agriculture) cottage over a wheat and a sheep! :crazyeye: While this isn't necessarily a good plan, it does show how much they prioritize Pottery now.

low, I completely agree. That is the most disappointing remaining part of the AI for me, even more so than wartime stupidity.

That would be the fix that the AI no longer keeps 10-20% Espionage constantly. I've definitely noticed the cut down in attacks on my civilization, ie Poison Water, but they can keep better pace with me in Research on the mid difficulties and blow me out of the water on harder ones.

Well, I was playing before with Solver's patch (which lowered espionage spending a bit), and I also made a change myself that lowered it by 10%, so I am not noticing much difference there. They are definitely doing other stuff better.
