I was 19 when I started playing Civ 1 in 1993. Ah, what a lot of wasted youth playing that frickin´ game!:(

Yes, I failed my accounting course because of Civ.

37 here, and playing from Civ1.
played all versions, alpha centauri, colonization, CtP (did not like that one)

I think no other single activity took as much of time in my life. (even sleeping)
I manage to have a successful career, though

Eek, by the time Civ5 is here I'll have moved into the 21-25 category. Been playing since I was 8-9, and it all began with CivNet. Good memories.

I thought I'd calculate how much the community has aged since the last poll, but I gave up. It seems it has aged a pair of years, with a median age, at the moment, approximately 2 years higher than 5 years ago, which I find a bit encouraging. It's a nice way of entertainment and good to see there's room for it later on.

I started civ2 in 2002-2003 ish, at the tender age of 8-9, and only got around to Civ 3 when it was $10 at Wal-Mart, in the garbage area with really crappy games :)hammer2:), stupid Wal-Mart.
I think I got Civ III around late 05 to sometime in 06 or even later. I got cIV in 2007 for Xmas, and BTS about a year later, so i've always been way behind the curve & out of the loop, but this time I'm probably going to get ciV ASAP!

33. Started 20 years ago with Civ 1.

(I guess that makes me 1/2 :old: compared to some of you!)

Looks like the results are basically the same as Civ 4 and pretty close to the normal for video/computer game players at large.

I'm 27 if anyone cares.

I'm 17, and I'll probably be 18 when Civ5 comes out. I started playing Civ4 in late '08.

I am 16 and will be 17 when Civ5 comes out. I started with Civ2 when I was 10.:D

Jesus, Canuck, you are way older than I assumed.

Well that's the problem with the internet, I'm 43 this year, with 23 years in the Canadian Army :p But you really are as young as you want to be, I still have the heart of a 23 year old....mind you my knees are 60 :p

Well, at least you caught up with older fans having to wait 5 years between civs :aargh:

No just kidding, if it was less than 5 years it would feel rushed.;)

Very interesting! I would have thought older players would be more dominant.

I really don't see 20-39 year-olds being that much into Civ... I thought they'd be playing FPS games, lol.

But for Firaxis this younger demographic is very healthy.
