Yes, I failed my accounting course because of Civ.
18, though I'll be 19 by the time Civ 5 is here.
Started playing SMAC at 8 to 9-ish, got Civ III when I was 12. = )
37 here, and playing from Civ1.
played all versions, alpha centauri, colonization, CtP (did not like that one)
I think no other single activity took as much of time in my life. (even sleeping)
I manage to have a successful career, though
14 turning 15 very soon, been playing Civ since I was 8.
Eek, by the time Civ5 is here I'll have moved into the 21-25 category. Been playing since I was 8-9, and it all began with CivNet. Good memories.
I thought I'd calculate how much the community has aged since the last poll, but I gave up. It seems it has aged a pair of years, with a median age, at the moment, approximately 2 years higher than 5 years ago, which I find a bit encouraging. It's a nice way of entertainment and good to see there's room for it later on.
I started civ2 in 2002-2003 ish, at the tender age of 8-9, and only got around to Civ 3 when it was $10 at Wal-Mart, in the garbage area with really crappy games hammer2, stupid Wal-Mart.
I think I got Civ III around late 05 to sometime in 06 or even later. I got cIV in 2007 for Xmas, and BTS about a year later, so i've always been way behind the curve & out of the loop, but this time I'm probably going to get ciV ASAP!
33. Started 20 years ago with Civ 1.
(I guess that makes me 1/2 compared to some of you!)
I expected the same.
Jesus, Canuck, you are way older than I assumed.
Looks like the results are basically the same as Civ 4 and pretty close to the normal for video/computer game players at large.
I'm 27 if anyone cares.
29 here, and yes I started playing with Civ 1.
Now I feel old.
I'm 17, and I'll probably be 18 when Civ5 comes out. I started playing Civ4 in late '08.
32... Man, I was only 23 when I joind CFC
I am 16 and will be 17 when Civ5 comes out. I started with Civ2 when I was 10.
Well that's the problem with the internet, I'm 43 this year, with 23 years in the Canadian Army But you really are as young as you want to be, I still have the heart of a 23 year old....mind you my knees are 60
Well, at least you caught up with older fans having to wait 5 years between civs
No just kidding, if it was less than 5 years it would feel rushed.
Very interesting! I would have thought older players would be more dominant.
I really don't see 20-39 year-olds being that much into Civ... I thought they'd be playing FPS games, lol.
But for Firaxis this younger demographic is very healthy.
Who's to say you can't play Civ and enjoy FPSs?
