The best Civ or Civ-related game.

I think that the official Civ games (Civ 1, 2 and 3) got better and better as the years went on. What was needed was kept and the rest was dumped. That's why Civ 3 is my favourite Civ game.

Yes, I also think that Civ 3 is the best. But I also love Civ 1, Civ 2 and AC.

Tried playing CTP a few times, but could not stand it. Only good thing about CTP was that I borrowed it from a friend and did not have to waste any money on it. After a few days I just returned the game to him and forgot about it.

Edit: Forgot to mention Colonization. I tremendously enjoyed building up my colony and when finally everything was running smoothly, there was a short and boring revolutionary war and the game was over... That was really annoying. Good game otherwise.

Alpha Centauri: AC was good but things just weren't familiar enough for me.

Call to Power series: I never played CTP1 but CTP2 was awful. I couldn't stand it. The only good thing about it was that it had a lot of civs to choose from.

Colonization: I played Colonization long after it was made so the graphics didn't quite impress me. Besides, I just didn't want to get into it because it was quite different from Civ2 (which I was playing at the time).

Offical Civilization games: Civ1 was brilliant, Civ2 was better and Civ3 is one of the best games ever made.
