The best scenario?

Of the scenarios included with the CD,
~ Jules Verne
~ Midgard
~ Master of Magic.

As Oryx says definitely Midgard and Master of Magic. If you meant other than those from the CD, my more well known recommendations are:

Underdark by Mr Temba
Oddesy by Kull
Lord of the Rings by Harlan Thompson
Red Front by Captai Nemo
Dungeons and Heroes of Beckhorn by Blackclove

Personally, I had master of Orion, Age of Reptiles and Civ-Life (best of net section)

I played "Shogun" for ages when I first got FW. Also "Age of Reptiles" was engrossing, but I never finished it...too huge. I only got around to playing "Master of Magic" this weekend. Good fun, but I wouldn't play it twice. It's one of those ones where you start out very confused

about all the units and techs and you're not sure how best to proceed. It's good because you learn as you go along, but then you think at the end: "I wish I knew all that when I started."...

Personally what I'm aiming to do for my future scenarios is make better use of the tech pop-ups, tutorial dialogue boxes and events to offer better initial instructions and advice. After all, who ever bothers with readmes before playing?

Yeah, you're real, but what about the first times you play civ?

The problem is, in fact, that we refere only to the regular civ...

But it's real, that pop-up boxes about tech should be really usefull in a scen were tech is totally diferent...

Hakan,
I recommend the following 3 scenarios:

Verne (from the CD)

Midgard (also from the CD)

T4srgold (a Scenario by Paul Hanti available from the Downloads Section of this Website)

The Scenarios that appeal to you will obviously depend on your interests and tastes. If you have an interest in Medieval history 'T4srgold' will appeal. The Scenario starts in the year 1000 AD and involves the struggle for supremacy between the 4 Italian trading/maritime Republics (hence the unusual title), Venice, Genoa, Pisa and Amalfi(initially belongs to the Byzantines), Byzantines, French\Holy RomanEmpire, Normans and Turks. There is a degree of historical latitude, however I played as the Byzantines and this Scenario is THE BEST at recreating the predicament the Byzantines faced - caught between East (the Turks) and West (Normans, Venetians etc.)

The units and graphics are good, but most importantly the way the Scenario plays is very good (first time I played, I thought Paul Hanti must have improved the AI, however it was the excellent way he has stuctured the Scenario that gave that impression). There are ways this Scenario could be improved however that is for a different thread - I strongly recommend 'T4srgold'.

Starship troopers is on Kevin Gilbert's Startrek page...it's at:
http://www.hfl.monroe.edu/KG/CIV/CIV.htm

If you have Fantastic Worlds, you even get reinforcements!

I'm sorry for giving you so many choices Håkan...I guess I need to slow down on reading. I spend all my time at work reading.

I have about 1/2 a gig of scenarios on my hard drive so I've got stuff I can't even remember that I have.

We should do something like have a weekly scenario to play and see who gets the highest score!

That might be fun.
