The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

Just one more question (Cause i sure must be bothering you by now). You know if i can use. The Model i alredy made to create a Nonshader or do i have to do it all again right from the beginning.

no you can just change the file name in nifskope. click on caesar then open the tree in nifskope and rename it from julius_diff.dds to julius_noshader.dds (or what ever the file name is). editing the texturing properties is in my guide.

I saw the LH in the database, and it looks really good. But if I could make a suggestion; I think if you replaced the white parts with a "leather" texture it would look much better.

Well, I'm a bit of a Roman history fan and as far as I know Caesar would have protrayed himself as a Plebian rather than a Patrician (even though it was he who was of "noble" stock and Pompeius Magnus who was of the Pleb class). So he'd either wear simpler armor (not as gawdy as what is portrayed here) or would simply wear a toga so that he doesn't appear to be a military ruler. I am not denigrating your LH at all, it is fantastic especially for a first LH, but I'm a stickler for the Romans so I just think it'd be better in a more drab attire. But its great work, and I don't expect you to make any changes simply on my account. :goodjob:

I got a couple of PMs asking about the release of the Askia LH since it looked pretty finished I guess this makes sense. I'm also working on a mod and learning to get comfortable with this Blender simultaneously so things are moving at a slower pace than normal, I'd say probably within the next six to ten days Askia should be finished. Thanks for your interest guys.

Capo, I am working on Tamerlane right now, and since I know you will need him I think I will show it to you before uploading it once it is finished, so you can tell me if you like it or not and what else could be done.

If you want I could even work on it a bit too.

Hopefully. It'd be nice to get him involved more, and maybe I can show him a thing or two. I also wanted to make a Tamerlane myself, and this way we can feed off of eachother. I had a few ideas I think would look good too.

I was hoping this will be your answer, actually, because I am not really pleased with what I have so far. I mean, I like the way I built him, but skinning him is very hard. I think I'll do some skinning today and maybe some adjustments in Blender and I'll upload the files in my gallery, so you can take a look and tell me if this is where you want to go, or I should just start from scratch with a different leader. I am using Hannibal as a base for him currently, with Brennus' clothes, Sladin's beard and a hat which is part Ragnar-part Genghis Khan, he also has Ragnar's cape.

Y'know what, I'm gonna go ahead and try out leaderhead making too.
I -really- want to make a better Asoka the Great LH.

I finished the leather armor. Uploading as we speak.

EDIT: Here's another prewiew:

Very nice. -This- fits Julius Caesar much better.
I guess with the previous design they were trying to make him look like an old sword and sandal film character, same goes for Alexander the Great.

I can see where they got a lot of the... odd design choices from. Asoka's sort of a stereotypical Indian mystic person, Ramses seems to be based on Yul Brynner... though not Yul Brynner when he actually filled the role, just late-in-life Yul Brynner.

Thank's... but i guess i will have to start my own gallery thread soon. I don't think The_Capo will be to happy i use his instead of one i have for myself...

yeah you probably should. you may also want to use the nonshader texture to give more definition. and if you are really looking to mess with caesar bulk him but widening his neck and arms - see the section on the nose in my guide on how to do this - transforming body parts

Damn Blender. I need a little help here. I can't export this LH at all, it keeps saying there are unweighted vertices or something like that. Now I have encountered this before, but it always highlited what was left over (I am referring to the missing bicep parts from before). So anyway, I rigged those parts to the forearm just so I could export it and figure out a way to get it to work. But it still says there are unweighted vertices but this time nothing is highlited. I looked all over for it and can't find it at all. I hope someone can help because I'm really happy with this LH and I was hoping to have it out tonight because the texturing is all finished up and everything. Anyway here are the files, so if anyone wouldn't mind looking at them that would be helpful. The LATEST blend is AskiaBlend3.blend I believe.

Thanks in advance.
