A wind blew across the desert. Seldom did wind actually blow in the desert where the nomads were for so long. The Romatov tribe was always ambushed by barbarians and many died in their long marches around the world. After all this time, the Romatovs were ready to settle down. They had been lately campign in caves in two mountains, where directly south was an elevated desert plateu, and below it was more endless desert, and beside it was a river which would have many uses. Dominant One Gioacchino Barretta, as old as he was wise, was ready to settle their tribe down like all the other nations, he heard reports of, had. The Romatovs were an dog like hierarchy, whoever was smartest, fastest, strongest was the "dominant one," a constantly shifting position of the highest male in the tribe. Originally the dominant one was the strongest, but it had evolved over time to be the smartest as well. At the time of the settling down, Gioacchino Barretta was the dominant one. Gioacchino's great grandson, Joe Sanbrecher, was eager to settle. While his great grandfather was dominant one, he wanted to gain publicity for his political thoughts about a military-based society and a government with a permanent dominant one until his death, which he called a dictatorship. But Jack had been put down for being "crazy," although he had obtained a cult following of people who believed his theory. When Gioacchino ordered it, the Romatovs dropped their backpacks and unpacked. As nightfall grew closer, however, to be safe from wolves, Gioacchino ordered the tribe to retreat into the caves in the mountains beside. Well, weeks turned into months, months into years...and the people of the Romatov tribe had become a society of cave dwellers. Below, where the plateu was, they had a campfire and barracks, a granary built into the side of the mountain, and walls elevating the plateu even more, for defense from wolves and barbarians. The people became fishermen using the nearby river. Jack retired temporariy on his political theory and became a commanding fisherman, the highest in the caste and one of the youngest, only thirteen years of age. He led them far upstream to discover another potential city cite. Gioacchino was still the dominant one at this point, and he allowed the settlement of another city up north, near iron which could help the army build new weapons. The city of Redburu (meaning Not Your City in a barbarian dialect that the tribe was located near the city, whom wanted to capture the town and repeatedly attacked the settlement when it was being built.) Redburu was also a cave based town. That night, a division of barbarian archers raided Romatov, the capital cave-city. This was a usual drill, there were raging barbarians allover the pangea like world. And when the barbarians attacked, a gong banger banged the gong twice. The code ment that all women, children, and elderly hide and all soldiers report for service. Most people were outside, in the open desert with only a few buildigns, and were struck by arrows before the reserve men could go to the barracks and get their weapons to fight back. Among them was Gioacchino. On his deathbed, Jack and his grandfather (Gioacchino's son) Salvatore met with him. "Son...great grandson...I am dying. The gods are dismissing my duties as the dominant one. Salvatore, you are now going to be ruler of this nation..." Gioacchino spoke. "Are you sure, dad?" asked Salvatore. "And Jack...you are brilliant. I only dismissed your theories early to prevent uprising and dispute. But when you become leader, I want you to carry out your dreams...your government system is ingenius...when you are dominant one...when you are dominant one." a tear drop rolled down Gioacchino's eye and he died. And Jack would never forget these words and would live them out to the fullest extent in the future.
